Who does it better?

So, a rash of format flips to Alternative, in the last few days. We all know that Alternative is just a label, and we all know corporate love label. In a purely subjective matter, who does it better, iHeart or Entercom?

OMG! Entercom of course. Iheart alternative stations all sound basically the same exuding the Denver one which never made sense to me. Iheart is mostly Alt 40. Lots of grunge, little Hot AC pop rock of the 90s (nothing deep), an avoidance of industrial and a hard hitter on the top 10 billboard alt tracks while avoiding new launched singles until it tests well. Entercom by comparison.... Well there is no comparison. The Buzz in KC is, hands down, the best non independent FM station on the radio for alternative. WEQX is probably the best but it's independent.

I've always liked Emmis 1057 The Point in St. Louis as well. They lean active during the day and indie/alternative at night. "Everything Alternative" is their phrase and it really fits a station that plays Rage Against the Machine to M83. Advise all to see their playlist. Note the 2 p.m. playlist vs the 9 p.m. playlist during the week.

P.S. - Cumulus Alternative stations, while lacking luster and nothing like Entercom; They are still light years better than iheartradio Alt stations.
