Mel Tillis, Country Entertainer and Songwriter, Dead at 85

Another country star gone. Goodbye and RIP, Coca-Cola Cowboy.

Back when the Pittsburgh Steelers were in their Four Super Bowls glory days Terry Bradshaw
shot a pilot for NBC. It was called The Stockers. Bradshaw played a stock car racer and Tillis
played his stuttering sidekick.

Our local NBC affiliate ran it with great fanfare. It is a very strong contender for the title of
Worst Half-Hour of Television I Have Ever Seen. Obviously it did not get picked-up.

Thankfully Mel went on to much, much better things in his career. RIP.
