I wondering why are they going to air so many games? I wonder is this a sign or perhaps 1210 AM going all sports sometime soon? It is highly unusual for a news/talker like WPHT to potentially air 50 plus games involving 2 of the city 6 . There's more to this than meets the eye imo.

There'$ nothing unu$ual about a New$/Talk $tation airing $port$. Not huge listenership, but the spots supporting the college sports community sells well. 1210 will NOT be going all-sports anytime soon, not when 94 WIP, 97.5 the Fanatic, and 610 Sports all exist. And 610 is a complete non-player. Why blow up the income stream of WPHT and repla.... why am I even bothering?

No. There’s not. CBS/Entercom owns WIP. WPHT is not, repeat not, going to sports. Please just stop.
 
Didn't 1210 carry the Phillies for decades while doing news and talk the rest of the time? Of course, much of that was before all-sports radio was invented, but still, sports and news/talk aren't an unusual combination.

I've been following baseball and the Phils since 1971 and in that time the Fightin's have bounced from 1210 to 990 to 1060 to 1210 (in time the flip from n/t to oldies [which came hours before Mulholland's no-no] to sports talk back to n/t) to 950 to 1210 to 94.1. IIRC the Phils were on 560 in the infamous year of 1964 then in the late '60s moved to 610 before going to 1210.
