Christmas music. Who will flip first locally?

Take whatever day the Holiday book starts. Then back it up 2 weeks. That's been the formula the last few years.

Just heard ellen k on alt 98.7 the woody show. She popped down the hall for 2 minutes and she said your christmas music station will start santa radio FRIDAY AT 5 with mark wallengren #SANTACLAUS

They're going to all be playing the same 60 shitty songs that they play every year.....When they start I'll turn off my radio till December 26th. Yeah....Bah! Humbug!

Well I won't go that far, but thank goodness for personal music collections, beats anything radio has to offer complete with long Christmas Eve commercial blocks interrupting Christmas Eve music (and yes.....the same 60). No thank you.

kKGO 105 announced they will once again go all-Christmas starting Monday 11/20 thru December 25. They will return to country music on December 26. When they did this last year, it resulted in a moderate increase in their ratings. Winter is typically a down period for country format stations.

KKGO Goes Christmas 11/20

The subject line says it all. The station will return to the country format on December 26. They made this change last year and it resulted in a moderate ratings improvement. Winter is typically a down period for the country format.

From Country Aircheck:

SoCal Santa: Mt. Wilson's KKGO/Los Angeles will flip to all-Christmas Monday (11/20) through Dec. 25. "We are thrilled to offer the best Christmas programming around this holiday season," says Station Mgr./PD Michael Levine. Like last year, the station will feature classics from Bing Crosby and LeRoy Anderson to more recent songs from Michael Bublé and Mariah Carey. The station's ratings increased from 2.1 share P6+ to 2.8 and reached a cume of 1,588,900 (all-time high for the station in the PPM era) in the 12/1/16-1/4/17 Nielsen survey.
