A judge has ruled against PACIFICA FOUNDATION noncommercial Variety WBAI/NEW YORK and THE PACIFICA FOUNDATION in a dispute with its EMPIRE STATE BUILDING landlord.
WBAI took to it's website to explain to listeners, "More than $1.8 million. That's the amount WBAI and the PACIFICA FOUNDATION need to raise immediately. That’s because Judge GERALD LEBOVITS decided against WBAI and the PACIFICA FOUNDATION in its dispute with the EMPIRE STATE REALTY TRUST over rent being charged to house our transmitter in the EMPIRE STATE BUILDING.
"PACIFICA NETWORK and WBAI Attorney SAM HIMMELSTEIN of HIMMELSTEIN, MCCONNELL, GRIBBEN, DONOGHUE & JOSEPH LLP says, "This was about as bad a result as we could have expected." He says political pressure is what is needed now."
