KAHM Sells Out

Just a matter of time before the elevator leaves. CCF has changed call letters of time shared 88~Three from KNAI-FM to KCCF. Guess where the KNAI-FM calls will land next? hmmm..somewhere where it's SPRING in the VALLEY, Arizona.

Nearly 20 years after the original KCCF in AZ (1100 AM) became KFNX, too. (In between, there was a KCCF AM in far northwestern Washington — it's now KRPI.)

KCCF = Cave Creek, Carefree. Pretty darn clever, huh?

But who winds up with CCF's 60% of 88~Three? Will KPHF buy it out?...will CCF sell their portion?...or is their an Outlier ready to purchase 100%? What In The Wide, Wide World of Sports is a goin' on?

CCF may feel it cannot sell 88.3 until the character issues tied to KUFW's long mess are resolved. They may also be reluctant to initiate a long sale proceeding for this reason.

Character issues didn't stand in CCF's way of purchasing KMVP~AM, the Riviera translator, KAHM, KYCA and their translators. Los Buckeye Boyz are bettin' they want to cash out of 88~Three to pay down the recent $4.4m spending spree.

It certainly is amusing to read about all the speculation on KAHM.
One of the previous posts is a very, very good guess. The others,
not so much......

Well, the current GM and sales manager wouldn't go through the effort of setting up a LLC to operate the stations after closing for the heck of it...

There are lots of moving parts in this transaction and a good cone of silence.

One word: Kalil

repped TMISU on sale of 8~Sixty to CCF
repped CCF on purchase of 101~Nine translator
repped KAHM/KYCA on sale to CCF

So who do you think might be working the 88~Three deal?

KAHM's website, KAHM.INFO, is completely changed. Gone are the beautiful
photos, taken by local photographers, of Prescott and surrounding areas.
The playlist is either no longer working or not available in the KAHM home site.
Contact information has been either eliminated or reduced significantly.

Be still my rapidly beating beautiful music heart. As of 7pm Thursday, the website is back with photos and a list of recently played music. Don't worry...they'll always be Calm.

yeah, right.

So riddle me this, good Doctor...

According to the LMA that's in the new online public file, the LLC held by the GM and sales manager has agreed to program both KAHM and KYCA until 2023, with an option to extend the term once for an additional five years.

Dunno...it's hard enough for Nurse Jeff and me to figure out the ingredients for rice & beans, beans & rice. Why CCF would shell out $2.5m for KAHM/KYCA, then sign a longterm LMA so Elevator Music has a home for up to 10 years is a mystery. Wonder what those monthly payments run, and how the LLC can meet the nut with a 55+ format? Guess that translator at 101~Nine is keeping CCF happy.

Do you have a link to the LMA info in the online public file?

Is there a radio format which goes by the name of "Elevator Music"? I don't recall there ever being one... ;)
