103.9 fm tower light/beacon out... anyone know or care?

The very top red beacon light on 103.9 fm tower in San Tan Valley has been out/off for over a month. Is there some rule that this should be fixed/replaced? Called the station, they didn't seem to know or care. Phx/Mesa Gateway Airport is nearby and planes fly nearby overhead that tower all the time. Curious minds want to know.

There is a Notice to Airmen on file, advising that the lighting on that tower is "unserviceable" until 9/16, which means that whoever is responsible for maintaining the tower lights is aware of the problem and has "notified" the proper authorities.

Presumably this means that there is a plan to repair the lighting on or before 9/16, although NOTAMs for tower light failures can be extended.

FCC Rule 17.48 states that failure of any flashing light, or any top-mounted steady-burning light on a structure, must be reported to the FAA within 30 minutes of failure. There is no specific requirement to have tower lights repaired within a certain time frame, although pilot complaints may cause the FAA/FCC to put some pressure on the tower owner.

Maybe former Sheriff Joe and his "dep-ah-dees" should investigate. A light out could mean a crime suppression sweep is needed in that area. The Nurse and I'll put in a call to Grant Woods for advice.

Called the station, they didn't seem to know or care.

Why would the station be concerned? They haven't owned that tower for years. It would make a lot more sense to contact the tower owner if you are truly concerned.
