Mom's Rockin' This Summer

6+ ratings for August are out, and Mother Hubbard has rocked herself to the top again with an impressive 7.9 on KSLX. And once given up for roadkill, KDKB scores an impressive 4.9!

While News/Talk is down overall, non-comm KJZZ proves to be a formidable competitor to the commercial stations with an improvement to 3.0. KFYI on life support...down to 1.3 as obviously quite a few angry old men spent August elsewhere.

And the station that knows more about being classically cool, KBAQ, continues to amaze Los Buckeye Boyz with an improvement to 3.4, right behind KTAR-FM. Looks like Beethoven is rollin' over a lot more than rhythm and blues!

PSA: KUPD's specialty show Go Punk Yourself, technically part of the sampling since it's Sunday before midnight, plays way cooler new music than the oldies on 93.3. Definitely worth checking out for those who can't always get KWSS-LP and don't want to hear moldy-oldies 90's garbage.

Just doing my part to help keep 97.9 in the 5's and to stop 93.3 from ever getting there.

Yes, mom's still rocking...but unfortunately, one of her cupboards is still quite creaky.

Hot baseball team, cold sports radio numbers all around.

That was August and the D'backs weren't playing as well as they're playing today. If they make the playoffs, then we should see some kind of bump. Zonies have historically been ambivalent towards this team. And with MLB carping about the Third World slum conditions of Chase Field, that doesn't help matters!

There also might have been an east coast road trip which led to their games being buried onto 620, because the opinions of Gambo and Burns take precedent over D-Backs in-season baseball. I expect these low numbers during Suns season, the way they've been playing the past decade.

Football season is back and with four stations airing some form of NFL games this year, expect all of them to show up in the ratings, even if it's only a blip.

How 'bout dem Coyotes! Just a few weeks away! Ah-oooo!

They're going to have a radio problem, since all local teams, save ASU baseball and women's hoops, are "owned" by TMISU. If the Coyotes, Suns preseason, ASU or Cards, and a D'backs' playoff game are on at the same time in October, which team gets kicked off? My guess is the Coyotes. 860 is gone, so they're down to three stations.

Simple...TMiSU buys 12~Thirty. Then they'll have even more complaints about the signal than they had with 8~Sixty!

Or they could buy the now-silent 1480, and have three times the complaints they'd have with 1230. :D
