Tegna to produce a singing competition show called Sing like a star

And much like 'TD Jakes', this one will probably last one season and be cancelled. Syndicated shows RELY on the big cities for their widest audience - NY, LA, Chicago, Dallas/Fort Worth, San Francisco. Tegna owns zero stations in those markets.

Tegna won't even make an attempt to clear it in markets that they don't own stations

Not initially. But if the show is a success, all they'd have to do is make a deal with a national syndicator, who'd represent the show to other owners. That's what Tribune did, and that's what most other TV owners do. Some of them own their own syndication companies. But others use outside reps.

Like MGM will do deals for Daily Blast Live if it does well on TEGNA stations this fall. Like The List signed a few stations outside Scripps TV stations although still in only about 25% of the country don't know if they have added anymore new stations for Fall 2017.

This clears on KONG/Seattle at 7PM Saturdays.
