If it is, in fact, the case that Jeff Brown is the new permanent morning anchor, I would like to see WBZ Radio put a formal announcement out indicating that. I haven't seen that yet.
WGBH announced today that Joe Mathieu starts as the new local host of Morning Edition this Thursday (8/10). I'll be looking forward to see how he sounds and fits in. Should be a good addition to the news team.

The bigger picture is WGBH has a focus on building their news service, WBZ is being swept up in a merger between CBS and Entercom, with Entercom's " experts" in charge of programming. No it had nothing to do with where the station "leans." At the time the rumor was that he wanted another contract and the station isn't doing any, while in the process of being sold.
I would doubt Joe would have left because of a preference for GBH over 'BZ news.

If you read talkers.com, which also covers music radio now, the impression is clear that CBS Radio is appointing/hiring people at all levels to all sorts of positions, both on-air and off-air. If I knew nothing at all about an impending Entercom/CBS thingie, I could conclude CBS Radio is doing very well and is positioning itself for the future.
Perhaps Joe asked for way more than what CBS had offered?
Is it possible that public radio, even a behemoth like WGBH, can outdo a commercial operation like CBS Radio when it comes to salaries?
No. Jim Braude staysNo it had nothing to do with where the station "leans." At the time the rumor was that he wanted another contract and the station isn't doing any, while in the process of being sold.

I would like to see Joe Mathieu as a possible host of Greater Boston, I find Jim Braude too abrasive, and I think Joe Mathieu is a better interviewer.
No. Jim Braude stays

Maybe he could guest-host a few times....and he could let others see his talents.
Says who? You? ;-)
