Joe Raineri, Revolution Radio 93.5 and West Palm Beach

It sounds like the purchase is more to upgrade the Keys signal more than upgrade the WPB signal. But I guess any coordination is worthwhile.

It sounds like they are giving up the most densely populated parts of two big counties in order to cover more water.
The only consideration is that a primary station is more permanent than a secondary translator.

From Tom Taylor's NOW newsletter this morning:
A $1.1 million “Zoo” sale in Florida – well, at least “Zoo Communications” is the name of the buyer. The May 22 NOW carried the story about John Caracciolo’s JVC Media reportedly selling WBGF Belle Glade/93.5 to the folks behind the multiple market “Revolution” dance format. Zoo owns WZFL/93.5 down in Islamorada, plus translators at 93.5 in Miami (W228BY) and Ft. Lauderdale (W228BV). Its expansion to the north is WBGF, a Class C3 that’s moving slightly east toward West Palm Beach. Two of the principals of buyer Zoo Comm are citizens of Italy – Claudio Dompe and Marco Mazzoli. The others are U.S. citizens Kimberly Bianchini and Marcella Manca. Terms of the $1.1 million sale are all-cash. Broker for the seller - Miami-based Anthony Gervasi.

Their ambition is only rivaled by their bankroll

So, I don't understand:
Have they, will they, or will they no longer have to collapse the coverage areas of the two translators
after the dust settles from the two real stations that cover fish and crocogators?

Yet an increase in tower height will still barely get a 60 dbu to Homestead, and, maybe, an in-car signal usable up to Goulds or Redlands.

One would think that they would know that WPB and the Miami markets are not bought as a combined metro. Trying to cover both is not a practical business plan.

Bottom line: Aside from WBGF's slightly eastward move is a further increase in power or height even possible for this facility given that there's a first adjacent station in Vero and second adjacent stations in Miami?

I don't think it matters since they'll own all of them. If there's interference, they would be interfering with themselves. My guess is they will tweek everything to make the coverage as seamless as possible.

Regardless of all of this, as soon as they apply for a 50kw CP from the populated area of PBC, you know WGYL 93.7 is going to file objections.

Translators not withstanding, wouldn't this also include WFEZ 93.1 Miami and WMIA-FM 93.9 Miami Beach? Are we looking at 73.215 filings for contour protection here?

Personally, I think that if such a move were possible JVC would have already done it instead of nudging the antenna a little bit east. Perhaps the well-heeled owners of Revolution intend to buy WGYL as well and then either downgrade or silence it in order to make way for a WBGF upgrade. Doesn't seem likely, though.

Just look at the latest FCC applications to answer the above questions. For WBGF: https://licensing.fcc.gov/cgi-bin/w...xt=25&appn=101694603&formid=301&fac_num=59661 Look down at the links for the PDF exhibits, look at the 73.215 allocation maps and you can see the contours and how close they come to overlapping WZFL to the south and WGYL to the north. You can do this for ANY FCC application go to: http://licensing.fcc.gov/prod/cdbs/pubacc/prod/cdbs_pa.htm the clip on "Search for Application Information" then search by call letters, etc. and it will sort by the latest date. Some applications are for sales, some for modifications (CP's) and some for "license to cover" for the completed construction of the CP. There's really no mystery on any of this, its all public information. For sales you can see who is buying what and in the Asset purchase agreement links (APA) you can see details and price. All of this info becomes available about 12:10 AM every weekday when the applications are updated at the FCC. Another easier to use site that tracks applications (with links) and updates every 10 minutes all day long is here: https://fcc.today/ Hope that helps to end any confusion or speculation.

How the hell did they squeeze in, not one, but TWO translators? LOL

Is there FCC precedence for such a move?

I know of a few cases where two different parties agreed to accept the interference. Usually one pays the other some money. (WXTU Philadelphia at 92.5 and WOMB-FM Toms River NJ at 92.7 - the Philly station reportedly paid the smaller one so they could move their antenna to the "antenna farm" just outside Philadelphia proper.) And I know of cases where one station bought another just to lower the power/change the pattern of the lesser important one. They would then be co-owned. (WOWO Fort Wayne IN purchased by the owners of WLIB New York. Both on 1190AM. WOWO downgraded, WLIB upgraded and then WOWO was sold back off. )

July 1 has come and gone and unless '99 Tears' will segue into a Skrillex remix at some point it sounds like WBGF is still carrying the TOC.

The sale has not been approved by the FCC yet. They only filed on June 3rd... usually things like this take about 90 days to work their way through the commission.

Revolution would be simulcast on all four 93.5's. I'd assume they all would be synchronized like FM boosters. That means all programming is the same, including the commercials and RDS.
They could also go in HD to reduce the multi path interference. Perhaps have the 93.5 in Palm Beach broadcast only the lower side band to protect 93.7, and have the 93.5 in the Keys broadcast only the upper sideband. An HD radio in Miami and Broward would pick up both side bands and the analog translators. But they're on 100.7 HD 2 so there's no point for the 93.5's to go HD
93.9 won't object because they work with iHeartRadio to feed their translators. 93.1 could object, but it's a moot point because a 93.5 translator is on the exact same tower as 93.1.
