From Tom Taylor's NOW newsletter this morning:
A $1.1 million “Zoo” sale in Florida – well, at least “Zoo Communications” is the name of the buyer. The May 22 NOW carried the story about John Caracciolo’s JVC Media reportedly selling WBGF Belle Glade/93.5 to the folks behind the multiple market “Revolution” dance format. Zoo owns WZFL/93.5 down in Islamorada, plus translators at 93.5 in Miami (W228BY) and Ft. Lauderdale (W228BV). Its expansion to the north is WBGF, a Class C3 that’s moving slightly east toward West Palm Beach. Two of the principals of buyer Zoo Comm are citizens of Italy – Claudio Dompe and Marco Mazzoli. The others are U.S. citizens Kimberly Bianchini and Marcella Manca. Terms of the $1.1 million sale are all-cash. Broker for the seller - Miami-based Anthony Gervasi.
It sounds like the purchase is more to upgrade the Keys signal more than upgrade the WPB signal. But I guess any coordination is worthwhile.
So, I don't understand:
Have they, will they, or will they no longer have to collapse the coverage areas of the two translators
after the dust settles from the two real stations that cover fish and crocogators?
Regardless of all of this, as soon as they apply for a 50kw CP from the populated area of PBC, you know WGYL 93.7 is going to file objections.
Translators not withstanding, wouldn't this also include WFEZ 93.1 Miami and WMIA-FM 93.9 Miami Beach? Are we looking at 73.215 filings for contour protection here?
Well, WZFL is on the same frequency and is in Islamorada.
Just look at the latest FCC applications to answer the above questions. For WBGF: https://licensing.fcc.gov/cgi-bin/w...xt=25&appn=101694603&formid=301&fac_num=59661 Look down at the links for the PDF exhibits, look at the 73.215 allocation maps and you can see the contours and how close they come to overlapping WZFL to the south and WGYL to the north. You can do this for ANY FCC application go to: http://licensing.fcc.gov/prod/cdbs/pubacc/prod/cdbs_pa.htm the clip on "Search for Application Information" then search by call letters, etc. and it will sort by the latest date. Some applications are for sales, some for modifications (CP's) and some for "license to cover" for the completed construction of the CP. There's really no mystery on any of this, its all public information. For sales you can see who is buying what and in the Asset purchase agreement links (APA) you can see details and price. All of this info becomes available about 12:10 AM every weekday when the applications are updated at the FCC. Another easier to use site that tracks applications (with links) and updates every 10 minutes all day long is here: https://fcc.today/ Hope that helps to end any confusion or speculation.
Is there FCC precedence for such a move? But they'll own that station, so could accept the interference.
