Hooking up RDL STM-2 Mic Preamp

Longtime broadcast engineer here, but mostly from the TV side of things. Needing to properly hook up an RDL STM-2 and noticed on the wiring diagram that the signal from the unbalanced mic level source is hooked to +, - and ground like you'd expect. For the output, the unbalanced line level signal is hooked to the + and ground of output A and (here's the question, finally) the balanced line level signal is hooked to the + and - of output B but the ground or shield of the wire does not appear to be hooked to the ground of the STM-2. I have linked to the PDF of the Datasheet of the STM-2 below.

If anybody could share how they hook up the outputs of RDL stick-on devices I would appreciate it. I have looked at other Datasheets and they seem to also have the outputs shown this way- balanced outputs with the ground/shield of the wire not hooked to anything. In my mind, this seems to negate the obvious noise canceling advantages of using balanced line level equipment.

Thanks in advance-

Val

Simple! The input is as it should be: Mic + Mic- and Ground (shield). Output is balanced + and -, (not ground). You only ground the shield at one end of the mic cable, in this case the mic input (low level). Otherwise you risk a ground loop by attaching the shield to the same ground as the low level input side with the line level output.
