Stephanie Miller's new executive producer

staggmovie

Star Participant
I didn't hear about it on the air, but on her page for this past Friday show Stephanie Miller named Vanessa Rumbles as the new executive producer who should be replacing John Melendez who he replaced her longtime executive producer Chris Lovie who left the show when he accepted the PR job at a casino in Palm Springs. I guess get ready Vanessa to start making no money, in less she is making enough of her podcasts to even pay her.

Where did you go to school? That's a long run-on sentence.
I have a real hard time listening to Stephanie. And its not because of ideology.
She just rambles on and on with little or no organization. Does she do ANY show-prep???
Maybe this new producer will create organization out of chaos.

This post is from 2016. Vanessa tweeted on 01-01-2018 that she's taken a position at HLN. She is the producer for Carol Costello.

I listened to a replay of Miller's show last night and sounds like there is no producer. Also there are no spots just PSAs. How much longer can she last? Got to pay the freight somehow.

How many stations is she on? Her show is time-shifted here and plays 10P-12Midnite on an X-band station that has no ratings.

Guest hosts this week. And no beeps! But still lots of PSAs.

Stephanie Miller and Thom Hartmann are both syndicated progressive talk show hosts who ALSO get carried on SiriusXM Progress Channel 127, which I believe pays decently. As long as they are being paid by Sirius, they will continue to host their three-hour shows and syndicate them to the remaining progressive talk radio stations. I would guess that Miller and Hartmann make most of their income from SiriusXM, but their syndication deals also provide some extra money.

Sadly there aren't many other syndicated progressive talk hosts out there. Randi Rhodes, Mike Malloy and Ed Schultz left syndication. Alan Colmes died last year. Norman Goldman is still syndicated from a station in Minneapolis. I guess Leslie Marshall is still on the air, but I'm not sure where. There are a couple of guys who do a show from Milwaukee in PM Drive, but I forget their names. Bill Press does mostly a podcast and live video stream. I'm not sure how many radio stations he has left, if any. And SiriusXM has several in-house hosts who are only heard on satellite radio.

Sorry to say, it wasn't long ago that you could cobble together an all-day Progressive Talk line-up.

Bill Press 6-9am Eastern
Stephanie Miller 9am-Noon
Thom Hartmann Noon-3pm
Ed Shultz and Leslie Marshall 3-6pm
Norman Goldman 5-8pm
Alan Colmes 6-9pm
Mike Malloy 9pm-Midnight

At the same time, there haven't been any new syndicated conservative hosts either. The talk syndication marketplace is a bit stagnant now. Instead, we've seen a rise in local talk show hosts, even in smaller markets. We had this discussion about replacing Imus. In New York, they replaced him with two local hosts, and from what I can see, they aren't offering them for syndication, even though they have Imus connections.

Really? Where has that been happening? That would be an encouraging indicator if true.

Personally it seems to me the smaller market stations are running with syndication + automation while the owners are busy selling time, trying to survive. It does not seem as if they would have the resources to hire local hosts. This impacts the bigger markets as they no longer have a "farm system".

How about Scott Voorhees in Omaha? That's a small market. Yes, they're running Rush in middays and Hannity in afternoons. But it's mostly local in mornings everywhere you look. The problem with syndication is you have to give up half of your inventory to the syndicator. The reason there's no farm system is successful local hosts don't want to leave their market to take a chance in another city. They'll do syndication if they can stay where they are.

If you want to you can get a count at her website http://www.stephaniemiller.com and go to listen live for stations that carry the show, I am seeing in both Albuquerque-Santa Fe and Springfield-Holyoke that 3 stations play the show, the looks of it most of the stations airs all 3 hours live with some stations airing 2 hours on tape delay, and also a couple airing the whole show on tape delay. Through say if you want to call in, you have to listen to it on the station that carries it live so that you can be more fully informed, of what they are talking about when you call in, and I know she does have regular callers like Buddy from Columbus.

I am not sure about Thom Hartmann's show, but I do see that if you like Stephanie Miller's show and would like to help support it there are a few ways of doing so, lie she has her podcasts of her show available as subscription fee, where she monthly and yearly fees, and if you also want to include the happy hour as well. And I see that you can also donate money either as one time, or you can make it monthly, and you can also sponsor an hour of the show. As of right now there are no hours available to sponsor from now all the way through until October. Things do change as like how you pointed out the lineup. The only radio station that Bill Press's show is on is WCPT in Chicago, I don't know how they managed to be the only radio station to still be able to carry his show, and they care both hours of his show live heading into Stephanie Miller's show. You had the sudden death of Alan Colmes last year, that WCPT carried his show on tape delay from 9 PM to Midnight. I have no idea if Leslie Marshall still is on the air doing a syndicated talk show, but I am sure that doing research will help.

Also I would like to add if you go to http://billpressshow.com and click on Listen Live you will only see WCPT as the only radio station that carries his show. Either case you can look at it that Stephanie Miller and Thom Hartmann along with Norman Goldman are really the only syndicated talkers that still air on regular radio as well.

She's losing her affiliate here in Atlanta. WMLB (1690) is signing off. It was a hobby station for the owner. It is unlikely that it will get picked up by another station.

Are you sure it won't be lucky she will get another station or another progressive talk station won't come around, and I am sure that fans in Atlanta can always listen online to another progressive talk station that does carry her show.

KABQ one of the original AIR America stations........I still remember engineering AL Franken when he came to town........

She is still off the air in Atlanta. And so is the hobby station (WMLB-1690) that carried her.

But I am sure that fans in Atlanta can do one of 2 things, listen to her show on another progressive tae station on the internet, or watch her show either http://www.freespeech.org , or at http://www.stephaniemiller.com . Another couple of options if that can't hear the show live if they are signed up for the Stephcast. Another thing that they can do is live live on Progressive voices, or also catch the show on SiriusXM Progress, they air the show while it is live. Yes I am aware of that I said 2 options doesn't mean that they are the only two options.
