Gray buying WDTV/WVFX Clarksburg

Gray Television said Friday afternoon that it is buying WDTV (CBS) and WVFX (Fox/CW) in Clarksburg, W.Va. (DMA 169), for $26.5 million in cash from Withers Broadcasting Co.

For the past several years, Withers has owned and operated WDTV and WVFX as a legal duopoly under an FCC Failing Station Waiver, an arrangement that Gray said it expects to continue.

I see Gray flipping WDTV 5.1 to NBC and WV Media flipping WBOY 12.1 to CBS to mirror the companies' other stations in the state. I also see FOX moving to 5.2, CW to 5.3 and WVFX going dark if Gray doesn't get the failing station waiver.
