Hagerstown: WHAG loses NBC affiliation

Hmmm....weren't those calls once attached to Channel 9 in DC? WDVM: District, Virginia, & Maryland. Before WUSA and after WTOP-TV.

Yes.

It's been a little more than a year since WHAG ( OK WDVM ) lost NBC. I still think within the next five years or sooner they will either go dark or become religious. 3 reasons.....

1. "The "tri-state" thing. Hagerstown is in the Tri-State area which is Maryland, West Virginia and Pennsylvania. Hagerstown radio has marketed the region as tri-state for so many years and the local Hagerstown paper as well. Now this channel wants to add VIRGINIA to the mix. Why not add Delaware too !! Not going to work unless WHAG/WDVM actually moves to Virginia. It will be tough for someone say in Fairfax to watch a newscast out of Hagerstown.

2. I don't think many in the Hagerstown really cares about the own community. When Winchester, VA lost TV 3 a lot of people were upset by that at first but that went away rather quickly as they had the DC and even Baltimore channels to watch. As long as WJEJ is on the radio that is where they can get local Hagerstown news.

3. Nexstar may be buying Tegna.
