I was going thru a box of old cassettes, and found a 60 minute tape of a WMMS aircheck from April 8, 1978. This was recorded on a Saturday morning, about 1 am. It features Betty Korvan doing the last hour of her shift, with just the beginning few seconds of the BLF Bash shift at 2 am. It's scoped for music, but commercials are left intact, as well as of course Betty Korvan. Seems to be devoid of any ID spots/jingles except for a classic "The weekend never ends ... " jingle at 2am. Seems like I just missed the 1 am station ID/jingle when I started recording. This was recorded on a small mono boombox I just bought at the time, portable enough to take with me on my move to California later in the morning! But I came back "home" 14 years later! I wanted to take some Buzzard with me. All I have now that works is another boombox type cassette player, hope to get a good deck again soon so I can start archiving my old tapes to digital formats. I may have a couple more old WMMS airchecks around somewhere, which I hope to find and convert in the near future. Given the age of the tape, and the equipment, not the best tone quality, I tried to compensate in the audio application.
