The Buenos Aires FM and AM dial

Okay, in this subject I'll try to list the most important and powerful radio networks and stations broadcasting from Buenos Aires City and the most powerful stations from the Buenos Aires Province. It doesn't pretends to be highly complete, since that would be impossible due to the myriad of entirely local stations every city and partido has. Muchas gracias por esta informacion. Is Millenium FM instrumentals? I wanted to listen online, but no site will allow it.

OK am listening now, but this is the URL that shows: http://186.153.1.2/5daaqaibaqmuai2eybokddngszqot2eh ( ??? ) But thank you!

Enjoying Millenium FM now, through the player pop-up. http://www.fmmilenium.com.ar/radio.html

When I click on the URL provided by cd, nothing happens, my media player remains 'Ready'. However, when I click the 'play' button (your choice of WinAmp, WMP or Apple) on the site's player pop-up, a new URL is created in my media player, each URL being different. If I re-click that URL, the media player does not play the stream, but again goes into 'Ready' mode. This is really curious...does this mean that every time one clicks the stream button, a new URL is created, but only for one time???

Interesting, that with the rest of the dial so crowded, there's only one station below 92.7?

Our OP might have accidentally missed listing them. This page might be dated a bit, but:

(Two are below 88 MHz!)

I intentionally omitted listing all the local/regional radio stations, since Buenos Aires is HUGE, with thousands of radio stations sharing the same frequencies, many of them operating illegally. As an example, I'll list the stations found between 87.5 and 93.1 in my city (Pilar Partido, Buenos Aires Province)

87.5 FM Soldados (Hot AC)
87.7 Cadena del Altísimo (Christian)
87.9 Radio Universidad (college)
88.1 FM Plus (Hot AC)
88.3 Estación Pilar (Hot AC)
88.5 Radio Panamericana (Latin/Hot AC)
88.7 FM Pancochi (Bolivian songs)
88.9 FM Renuevo (Christian)
89.1 FM Touché (rock/reggae)
89.1 Radio Universidad de La Matanza (college) - yes, two different stations in the same frequency!
89.3 FM Santa María (easy listening)
89.9 FM 89.9 (oldies)
90.1 FM Trujuy (Lite AC)
90.5 FM Monterrey (hard rock)
90.7 FM Scombro (tropical)
90.9 Radio Universidad de Belgrano (cultural/Lite AC)
91.1 Radio Caacupé (folk/Paraguayan songs)
91.5 FM del Sol (Lite AC)
91.7 Radio Planeta (Latin)
91.9 Radio Country (Hot AC)
92.1 FM Plaza (Lite AC)
92.5 FM Boreal (Lite AC)
92.7 La 2X4 (tango)
92.9 FM Copacabana (Bolivian songs)

Didn't BA have an AM station on 1620, and another frequency above that (maybe 1650), in the 1990s?

Eduardo, or anybody else, are you aware of any radio stations which published (or otherwise offered) TOP TUNES radio chart (hit parade) lists every week or month or end-of-year? I am a serious, serious collector of these - FROM ALL ERAS. You would most likely be familiar with any activity in the Provincia de Buenos Aires, but my request actually extends to Bahia Blanca, Montevideo, Asuncion...and, in fact, through Latin America and the Caribbean as far as Tijuana and Santo Domingo, and Africa, etc.

I am trying to find ORIGINAL PAPER CHARTS (SURVEYS) ONLY - that can include anything that was printed in a newspaper. That does NOT include anything that was printed in a "NATIONAL" music publication, however.

Greater Buenos Aires has many licensed stations in the X-Band, and on some channels there are several. It is also a significant place for pirates, as a wire draped down the site of an apartment building will make a good quarter wave vertical. Several of the higher power licensed stations were heard when the band was not as crowded by DXers in the US, Europe and New Zealand.

1650 was for several years and outlet for BBC Mundo programming in Spanish, while BBC World Services programmes were heard on 97.1 timeshared with Radio France International.
1650 has closed many years ago (although that frequency was licensed in 2008 for a 1Kw station in Pilar, Northern Buenos Aires which broadcast irregular daytime programming for a few years until folding for good in 2013) while 97.1 is now Mucha Radio, a Latin music outlet owned by the same people as LS83 Canal 9. It is quite low powered though.

The most widely heard of those X-Band stations was Radio Esmeralda, which if I recall, was on 1610 and did a Bolivian community format. It was, for many years until the US built out the band, the easiest station from Argentina to receive in the US. I heard it once on a car radio in Miami.

A listing of station in greater Bs As shows

These Argentinan stations transmit in the extended AM band:
1610
Radio Cultura, Domingo Purita 2247 (1824 Lanus) - inactive at the moment.
Radio Cántico Nuevo, Av. Oliver 1134 (1842 Monte Grande)
1620
Radio Tropicana, Av. San Juan 2461 (1232 Capital Federal)
1640
Radio Bolivia, Av. Coronel Roca 1467 (1437 Capital Federal)
1650
AM Restauración, Debussy 2948 (1686 Hurlingham)
1660
Radio Unidad, Molina 830 (1847 Rafael Calzada)
1670
BBC América Latina (Capital Federal)
1680
AM Getro, Av. San Martín 4280 (1824 Lanus oeste).
