JULY 2011 PPM REVIEW

Had to go to another site to get the numbers, our friends here are a little slow.

The top 10 (6+): KISW, KRWM, KJR FM, KPLZ, KBKS, KIRO FM, KUBE, KKWF, KOMO AM, KMPS

KISW was up another 6/10 of a share to have a solid #1 finish. WARM was down 6/10 of a share, while KJR FM and STAR tied for third, KJR off 1/10 of a share, STAR was up 3/10 of a share. KBKS and KIRO FM were in a tie for fifth, KISS was up 8/10 of a share, while KIRO FM was up 1/10 of a share. KUBE was seventh and up 5/10 of a share. KKWF and KOMO AM tied for eighth, with WOLF down 3/10 of a share, and KOMO down 4/10 of a share.KMPS was tenth and its ratings didn't budge. All the top ten stations exceeded a 3.9 share of the market.

The top 10 (Cume, listen at least fifteen minutes weekly): KRWM, KBKS, KPLZ, KJR FM, KQMV, KUBE, KJAQ, KZOK, KISW, KKWF.

Breakdown by ownership and total quarter hour share:

Clear Channel, Entercom, Sandusky, CBS Radio and Bonneville round out the top five. All combos had more than a 9.6 share of the audience.

Noticeable Ups and Downs in share: KLCK was up 7/10 of a share and over a 3. This is the highest they have been since their debut. KVI is now at their lowest share since their format change, a lousy 1/10 of a share point. Lower overall share than KISM, KAFE, KSGX, KWPZ. Three of these stations are from Whatcom County. What were they thinking at Fisher??

In 25-54 adults KISW, KJR and KPLZ were on top. 25-54 men went to KISW and 25-54 women to KPLZ. Not a whole lot of change in the last eight to nine weeks really. Agree on KVI. When they launched last Fall it seemed smart since their were no Oldies stations in Seattle, why not try it on AM? Then KJR flipped in January after Christmas, KMCQ started encoding. Hard to beat two FM's, one of which is now on top in ratings. Wonder why Fisher doesn't buy KMCQ and simulcast like they do with KOMO AM/FM.

KUOW, KJR, KPLZ, KIRO and KISW pretty much dominate mornings in the prime demos. Not a whole lot of change here either.

KLCK seems to be catching on. They tied Sandusky's WARM for 11th 25-54, the best showing for KLCK yet. KMCQ faded back into the one share range in prime demos. Playing commercials doesn't seem to agree with the audience. WARM will be back in three months when Christmas arrives. Wonder if KJR and Rivers will play Christmas music this November, December as well?
