Radio Raices - Republica Dominicana

I was listening to Radio Raice's (Santo Domingo) stream and they were commenting they were the first in the DR to broadcast in "digital." I went to their website and found some info. Hadn't heard them for a few months, but I assume it's only signed on IBOC in the past 90 days. Their site also mentions that they've been testing since last summer and are ready to put on HD-2 and HD-3 streams.

I say way to go! While not a fan of IBOC AM, FM is a great investment and shows how forward thinking they are! Here is an excerpt from their website:

And for those who don't speak spanish: "Raices uses the north American digital radio system known as IBOC (in band on channel) the only one that allows simultaneous transmition of an analogue signal with a digital signal, allowing the listeners a migration to a digital system and it's possibilities.

Each of these frequencies, or Raices' carrier has 4 different signals, the analogue with normal programming, and the digital frequencies HD-1, also with normal programming, but in digital format; the HD-2, with specialised programming (pending) of popular and tropical music, and the HD-3 with other new programming (to be announced so0n).

This means that Raices will broadcast 3 different digital programmes on the same frequency, that you can ONLY tune in with digital receivers."

¿Are IBOC recievers even available in the DR?
