success does not always breed imitation

Jason, I understand what you're saying, but down the road in Cincy, WCKY did have a full time news staff (it happened to be WLW's, but they still had local news, weather and traffic), and a good signal, but it still didn't work.

I am a conservative, but a radio programmer who sees an inequity between the more well-financed conservative stations and prog-talkers, who seem to be, understandably, relegated to poorer frequencies with less wherewithall than their conservative counterparts. The market is there. It just needs investment to make it work.
I think that's by design. The biggest owner of Prog. Talk stations is CC, which can't seem to adequately staff its stations, period, let alone prog. talk.

Cincinnati may have been the toughest test ever for progressive talk. Many regard it as the most conservative larger city in the nation.

That shouldn't matter your shooting for 5 percent of the population. You can't tell me 5% of the population isn't liberal. By your flawed logic, conservative talk radio should be a failure in Boston.

One more time... getting ratings does not = success and lack of rating does not = failure.
