Jay Severin 96.9 FM

OK....does anyone here ever listen to Jay Severin on 96.9 FM?

I sometimes listen on the drive home from work and usually find him annoying, but, today I found him to be so outrageous I wanted to start a campaign to get him fired LOL.

But, seriously, his hate-mongering talk about Barack Obama has gotten out of hand (imho).

I was hoping he'd tone it down once the election was over, but, he seemed to be one of the only right-wingers who actually "upped the ante" (I mean, even Sean Hannity was of the "I don't trust Obama, but, I will support him" mindset tonight) and called for listeners to basically rise up and try to get Obama impeached (which is interesting since he hasn't even taken over the White House yet).

I'm just curious to see if anyone else finds Severin as outrageous/insulting as I do???

Again...I take talk-radio with a "grain of salt", but, I find him to be bordering on "dangerous". I FULLY support freedom of speech and VEHEMENTLY oppose the "fairness doctrine", but, calling for people to "not" support the president-elect, and asking them to to everything in their power to ruin his presidency seems rather divisive. Not to mention the fact that he constantly calls Obama a "communist" and "terrorist" and today began referring to him as ObaMarxist.

Nice.

Now...I know this is not a political forum and I hope I haven't brought up a topic that isn't normally discussed in these parts. I just had to vent and this was the only "Boston radio" forum I could find after doing a Google search.

Like him or not, Jay's rants and ego bring in the ratings and will do well having the Obama Presidency as material to work with. This is going to be Talk Radio vs Democrat President again just like it was against Clinton.

Listen and enjoy it as entertainment and parody. It is less stressful that way.

I enjoy Jay's show. The great thing about this country is having the freedom to choose another radio station!!

Are you surprised? Him, along with Howie Carr, Dennis & Callahan, to name a few are all filling the Boston dial with their racist bullcrap...But hey it gets tons of ratings right? :
91.5 WBIM-FM, "Where the 'M' stands for 'mmmm!'"

The answer is No, I don't. But I have listened to Imus a bit since Severin made his public pronouncement that he would no longer--by choice-- be in the I'man's rotation. Jay's name has never come up that I've heard?

Re: It is what it is

A woman tonight told me she heard some of Jay Sevarin today and thinks a little censorship (of him) might not be a bad thing.

Of COURSE it would be a bad thing.

Any liberal is gonna hear the "marxist" term from the right wingers. Same with "communist." They're big boys (and girls), they can take it.

If advertisers bolt Sevarin's show, things will change. If not -- and I doubt they will -- then turn the station if you don't like it. Don't tell me I can't listen to whom I choose just because you don't approve of what's being said.

It's NOT racist bullcrap. It's Red vs. Blue. Does this mean ANYONE who challenge's Obama for the next 4 years is racist? I hope not.

Are some Jay's views extreme "right"? Yes. Is it any different than Joy Baher (sp?), from the View, calling President Bush "Hitler"? No.

I don't listen to his show either, but at times, I do however stop at 96.9 just to see what his topic is. But I do not listen to his show because he will give me a heart attack with some ignorant things he says.

But as some of you said, it is a Freedom of Speech

He does speak good English. He is very well spoken. Personnally I think he would be better off being an English teacher

"Democrat President" was meant to be insulting.

I'd love to see you post examples of Jay and Howie's racism. D&C made a mistake or two, but making out like the Boston talk radio collection is nothing but a giant Klan meeting makes any point you make hard to take seriously.

Re: Jay Severin 96.9 FM

I agree that he has the right to say what he wants..and..that I can change the channel (or not listen). I just think that he often goes over the line.

As far as racist remarks, I'm not sure he's really being "racist". He does talk about the "bastard factory" all the time..and..refers to "po' folk" when talking about the bad mortgage scandal. I think a smart person can read between the lines when he makes those comments. Perhaps, though, I'm being too sensitive on this issue???

Anyway...here's a direct quote from him sometime in October:

>>>
You have a job and I do too. My job, with your help, is to start today, or recommit today, with 29 days left in this campaign, to politically destroy Barack Obama. Our job is to undermine him in every possible legal way, to undermine his upcoming administration in advance, to destroy his ability to reach any governing majority, undermine and destroy his political ability to govern or to have any hope of a successful administration.

We must do this because a Successful Barack Obama administration equals socialism, our government being soft on terrorism, the UN running the defense of our country, our doom as a nation....

Whatís your job, what can you do? Join me! Start the 2012 campaign right now. If we canít impeach Obama then letís throw him out at the earliest possible moment and that means start stopping Obama now. An attack campaign against Obama is worthy of the timeless principals of all American patriots. Obama is King George and we are the minutemen, and women. The United States of America will be saved only by us, and only by us opposing Obama and everything he represents. That is our duty.
>>>

Personally, I find this type of talk offensive and it only adds to the divisiveness in this country. But, he is entitled to his opinion and he can say whatever he wants.
