He was a great talent. His night show on WKBW Buffalo was heard over a large portion of the northeast in the early 70s. He worked in Indy for a short time in the mid 70s

XM 60's did a great tribute to him the other night...I'd forgotten how good he was. Us boomers were so fortunate to have grown up listening to him & his peers...God rest his soul.

I will never forget the time Jack let me into the WIFE studio and let me watch him how hard he worked on the air. He was a legend and I was honored to meet him...for all of a mere ten minutes...he jokingly downplayed that comment I made to him when he said "I'm no legend...unless I was 'ol Elton John pounding on a piano for a living.!"

Joe Madigan of John Carrol University's WJCU-FM in University Heights(near Cleveland),Ohio did an awesome tribute to the LEEEEE-DER! on his Tuesday evenig WIXY-1260 tribute show "Retro Radio." Armstong worked at the former WIXY and WKYC before moving on to CHUM, "KB" and `13 WIFE.

I had the opportunity to get to know Jack and his lovely wife during their short time in Indianapolis long ago. We met through mutual friends. Like many radio folks in a new town, they were anxious to make friends and something between us just clicked. Both were delightful warm people and almost instantly welcomed me into their lives. We shared many a home cooked meal and some real quality time just hanging out. Jack was a dedicated professional and funny inasmuch as he was one of those jocks who couldn't easily turn off the deejay voice even in the most relaxed of circumstances. Nothing insincere about the man in the least, but the rapid mile-a-minute delivery continued well away from the mike. I am saddened to hear of his passing. :(
