Wonder why that The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson was only 45 minutes, leaving out Johnny's monologue in the process? Did KVOA carry only 45 minutes of the show minus Johnny's monologue?

I believe that the JFK Conspiracy special was a tape delay from a previous night, thus the lateness of showing this.
 
Is the show at 8:30 AM on Channel 9 "Dateline: Hollywood"?
At the time it was on ABC at 10:30 AM (ET). As I noted on
my Atlanta posting for October 1967, it was the show that
gave America Rona Barrett. Originally, Joanna Barnes (a
frequent panelist on '70s "What's My Line?") was hostess,
and Miss Rona delivered a short gossip column. By the end
of the show's run, in December, Joanna had left to do a movie,
and Rona had taken over the whole show.

If so (and I believe it is), then "Doctor" is probably Dr. Lendon
Smith's "Children's Doctor," which far outlasted "Dateline: Hollywood."
It followed "The Baby Game" and "It's Happening" in 1968, then
"Funny You Should Ask" in late 1968 and early 1969. Dr. Smith,
of course, is better known as a contributor to "Good Morning America."

The show you called "Cornet Blue" is "Coronet Blue." Frank
Converse played an amnesiac. NYC police had found his
near-dead body in the East River and had heard him mumbling
the words "coronet blue." Given the name Michael Alden,
Converse's character spent the series trying to discover just
who he was (cop, mob hitman, victim of a mob hit, or what?)
and what "coronet blue" meant. Because producer Herb Brodkin
had written and filmed thirteen episodes a couple of years earlier
(when CBS had made repeated promises to put it on the air, then
failed to follow through), we never found out who Alden really was.
By the time the show did air, Frank Converse was at ABC, filming
"N.Y.P.D." (not to be confused with "NYPD Blue"). The ratings for
"Coronet Blue" were quite good, CBS wanted to continue it, but
it was too late.

The NBC News special on the JFK assassination came about the
same time that CBS did an examination of the Warren Commission
report, and came up with even better evidence that Oswald acted
alone.

...as I recall, this was the program referenced in Oliver Stone's film JFK -- but, IIRC, Stone couldn't use the NBC Peacock logo and substituted the CBC Butterfly logo instead (has that CBC logo *ever* been seen that far south, even on the NET/PBS station in NOLA?)...the evidence collected in both the NBC and CBS specials couldn't have been very good -- who the hell believes today that Oswald even shot at Kennedy, let alone was the only one to do it?...

..."I Dream of Jeannie" only followed "The Monkees" that season during its first half; during the second half, "The Monkees" was followed by "The Road West," a Western series that only lasted a single season, and a movie. By the next season, "I Dream of Jeannie" was moved to Tuesday nights, "The Krafty Music Hall" and "Run For Your Life" were moved to Wednesdays and "The Roger Miller Show" was cancelled...

A few holes to fill here, which will also address replies 4 and 5...

NBC Mondays at the start of the 66-67 season, times ET--
7:30 The Monkees
8:00 I Dream Of Jeannie
8:30 Roger Miller Show
9:00 The Road West
10:00 Run For Your Life

--Miller was canceled mid-season, replaced at 8:30 by Captain Nice.
All of the shows, including Nice, remained in their slots through the
entire season. (Source: Brooks & Marsh.)

At the start of the season KVOA-TV aired Miller at 6:30 MT, Road
at 7:00 and a local movie at 8:00, so the movie listing is
no doubt a local program. (Source: TV Guide 1966 Fall Preview
issue, Tucson edition.)

They did not carry Monkees in the fall and I don't think they picked it
up until its second season, so the 6:30 show in the June 19 listings is
probably Captain Nice (unless NBC ran a Monkees episode at 8:30 ET
that night, but it would be odd that KVOA would air it).

Jeannie aired Saturdays at 5:00, on 16mm film, IIRC (can't recall if it
was five- or a 12-day delay).

Run For Your Life aired Sundays at 9:00.

KVOA-TV had very limited VTR facilities and could barely delay
one show a night, and that usually aired a week late, plus some
oddball delays via 16mm film. That said, there's no way they
could turn around Carson in an hour (or 45 min. since they
still had only a 15 min. 'cast at 10:00). As speculated, they
JIPed the show at 10:15! Sort of. They played back the open
(recorded at 9:30) and just as Ed was about to say "Heeeeerrre's
Johnny!" they cut to the network to whatever segment the show
was in. ::) Many times they had to sit on a program slide for a
bit if the net was in the middle of a spot.

Not sure when the NBC special at 11:00 was from--could it have
preempted Run For Your Life at 10:00 ET that night and KVOA
didn't want to sit on it until one or two Sundays later?

Prime time all on 16mm film fed from KTVK Phoenix--same night's episodes
as the network (not a week old); in pattern on film Sunday-Friday, live net
on Saturday.

This season KTVK did start to dabble in tape delaying shows on a random
basis. ABC Stage 67 would have been tape-delayed each Wednesday.
A few Monroes and F Troop were on tape occasionally, I don't know if it
was part of their learning curve or if the film print didn't arrive in time or
was damaged.

KTVK did do a nightly one hour delay of Bishop.

Network feed provided by KOOL-TV Phoenix, the 9:00 and 9:30 sitcoms
were tape-delayed from 5:30-6:30 MT. KOOL MC operator: remember
to clip the "audio over credits" on Terrific--its a promo for Lucy! ;)
