KC 101 Lowest Rated New Haven Station

Hey BigMax,

Agreed, I'm not in the audience KC101 is targeting.

The reason I brought Jerry up is because the station was at it's highest rating when he was on & their music was a little different.

When WKSS flipped from Beautiful Music, that was the beginning of the end for KC, then 'ZMX (Z93.7) followed.

These stations have killer signals in New Haven, as their xmtrs & antennae are on Meriden Mtn. (even though KC has CTs' tallest FM antenna).

KC should flip to Rock & compete against 'PLR (& get some numbers from LI, as well).

Your opinion is that Jerry is a has-been?

At least he went to the Capitol city to a station that has higher ratings.

At least he made a change - something KC isn't doing.
 
Dang is KC 101 that bad. Im sure their doing well in demos or they wouldn't be a hit music station. They must be pulling in some cash. How else would the djs get paid and everything else to run the station.

The KC sales team is well equipped to sell ice to eskimos...if you get my meaning.
They sell the image of the station. But what the arb numbers point out is that there
is no loyalty to a specific radio station in the New Haven market. It started back in the mid 90's and it continues today. The radio audience is not bashful about button pushing until they find what they want to listen to. I guess KC has a decent qtr hr cume with 12-18 year olds. There TSL is low.

I agree KC 101 needs to fix their audio... and play songs at their normal speed. I don't know about you guys but I hate it when stations speed up their music... it just doesn't sound right to me.

I've also noticed that here on the shoreline KC 101's signal is not that strong unless you're closer to New Haven.

KC needs the equivalent to a radio enema. :eek: ;D They need to do some Spring cleaning
A new format. Something that will set them apart from other stations. Too much crossover with KSS, ZMX, and some YBC.
 
I live in Monroe CT and KC 101's signal comes in very clear. I disagree about the opinion about speeding up the music. Alot of songs drag out their intros and outros and it is nice to have one song finish and another one start if I hear a song that keeps dragging I change the station or pull up my itunes library I think that is why KC101 speeds up the music because alot of people will get bored with a song that drags on. . KC101 also has a great imaging with their logo and website I spend alot of time on their website they are right up there with ebay and Myspace. The DJs always sound great upbeat and are very funny. KC101 never rushes or is rude to their callers. This station also doesn't stop the music and and play a non stop string of boring commercials like alot of the other local stations do. It's a big reason why I listen to KC101 alot plus their music is all the songs I want to hear. I don't know how their morning show is because I never listen to it. I don't wake up till the afternoon.
 
BTW - KC101 hasn't piched their music in a couple of years. Kiss pitches, KCI does not.
 
KC 101 is a radio station. People know they play music they don't have to pitch it to people. You turn on the radio you hear music. DUUUH

If kc101 doesn't speed up the music and kiss 95.7 does then why is it when I listen to a song on Kiss the intro and outro go on and drag but I'll hear the same song on 101 and it doesnt drag it starts it finishes it's done no dragging like on Kiss? and why does Kiss play so many commercials at once and 101 only plays a few then gets back to the music.
 
Rgarding the music, it could be different versions of songs (extended intros and the like). As to the commercials, they could have different clocks (meaning kc101 goes into commercials at different times than Kiss, or maybe they have more commercial breaks causing fewer commercials per break). In the end though, it may just be your perception. :-\
 
Alright. She wasn't talking about pitching up records. She was talking about 'pitching the music to the audience'.

Maybe some people should read before shooting their mouths.

And yes, WKCI has a great signal here.
