Oh yeah, fresh in the head even after all those years. As is the WIP Cash Call jingle!

All good choices, except Elise Brown. Nice smokey voice, but no chops. I don't know how she came out of nowhere and got on a.m. and p.m. drive.

Anita was a pistol. She was my favorite female jock in Philly.

Why don't you add them all. Including weekenders.

Ivory Blackwood (mainly WRDR, but had guest spots on WPEN and WJBR-FM).

Re: Best All Time Philly Jocks...worthless

All you did was list Jocks. What has diego done that makes him a good jock???
He's a stunt guy for Dago in the morning. Jen Posner is a traffic girl. Juan Varletta is a liner jock, and one step away from being a V.O guy
I just don't understand the relevance of Nick McIlwain on this list. he's as much of a jock as casey-boy is. Rich DeSisto is a one dimensional liner reader and a dry Voice over guy. Your list has too much of radio's schlock, and lacks mention of those DJ's who have really made radio a great medium.

Famous 56 WFIL

I grew up in the 70's listening to George Michael and Jim O'Brien.
They were pros and they are so a part of my childhood.

It's tempting to start a new thread about favorite news people but there's probably not a lot of interest since most were considered interfering with the music. But....I have to make mention of my favorite:Alan Stone (WFIL)

I remember Stone too. He had a unique way of pronouncing his name by emphasizing it lol.

"Alan Stone... W F I L... Newwws!"

Back towards the topic, off the top of my head this 57yo can't think of a favorite Philly jock at the moment, but on a field trip to WFIL with my middle school's radio club that I was a member of, we met Jim O'Brien right after that day's Dialing for Dollars that he hosted wrapped up (this was when 'FIL was still in the round building with Ch. 6). He was very nice in person, sounded just like he did on the air, and gave us all 'graphed pics. Thanks, Jimbo. Continue to RIP.

joe mccauley, tom brown, nat wright, chuck dougherty and mac mcguire, they were the best, they were your friends, they played music and made you feel special, not like whatever that is on radio nowadays......

Here's my top 5 top of the hour news announcers from back in the days of the great AM music stations:

1 - Alan Stone
2 - John Paul Webber
3 - Glen Barton
4 - Ira Mellman
5 - Tony Bruno

Those are great names .
Not a newsman but a versatile talk show host who I enjoyed was Wynn
Moore. That barratone voice .

Bruno along with Harry Mayes may have been the best duo in sports this town has seen in years .
Or this recently retired one ... Jan Gorham. Difficult to
work with
.
