Infinity To Put San Jose Stations Into Trust

They'd already announced the intent to sell at least one of their two San Jose stations (KBAY and KEZR) to make way for the purchase of KEAR-FM in San Francisco, but Infinity apparently doesn't want to wait.

The company has filed to assign the two licenses into a trust headed up by Elliot Evers. Evers, as trustee, could sell the stations either on his own or at Infinity's direction. The move is intended to get KBAY and KEZR out of Infinity's cluster, and pave the way for them to purchase KEAR/106.9.

Infinity's application before the FCC to put the stations into a trust is posted here (PDF format):

Infinity KBAY/KEZR Trust

It makes for incredibly exciting reading!

Anybody got the scoop on this Evers guy? Is he just a financial guy or is he radio?

He is a well-known, well-established and experienced station broker. His real task is undoubtedly to sell the stations. That's what he does.

From his bio:

Elliot B. Evers is Managing Director and Co-Founder of Media Venture Partners, Ltd. He has been involved in the communications industry for nearly 30 years, and currently oversees MVP’s Mergers and Acquisitions Practice in the broadcast sphere. MVP has closed more than $12 billion in deals since its founding in 1987. Mr. Evers holds a B.A. in Journalism from the University of California, Berkeley, and a J.D. from the University of California.
{/snip}

In essence, he's simply handling the sale on behalf of Infinity so that they can expedite the acquisition of 106.9 FM from Family Stations.

gotcha... thanks. From the looks of his company website... they've done a bunch of deals all over the country...including KARA in SJ.

Hopefully these two stations dont go spanish like KARA did. KEZR and KBAY can take me from the San Francisco area to Salinas with decent reception.

Re: Who's Elliott Evers?

Evers is one of the people involved in Deer Creek Broadcasters (if I recall the name right without looking it up.) the folks that bought Clear Channel's Chico cluster a year or so ago.

He started in radio at KPFA, Berkeley
