Myself, I'm white. But hardly skinny (the days of a size 32 waistline are long, long past me I'm afraid.) I owe this partly to all the-you-can-eat Indian lunch buffets that play Hindi and bhangra music as their background music. I always had a strange attraction to it (and a voracious appetite for Indian food) since.
