From AllAccess: (Congrats Kurt at being skilled enough to run a jukebox - we all have our strengths)

INFINITY is so serious about the JACK-FM format that President/Programming ROB BARNETT has announced that INFINITY/DALLAS VP/Programming KURT JOHNSON has been appointed VP/JACK Programming. JOHNSON will keep his DALLAS VP duties which include being PD at KJKK (JACK-FM) and Smooth Jazz KOAI.

BARNETT said, "As PD of our first JACK station, KURT has been instrumental in the format's adoption at several INFINITY stations across the country. He has successfully guided KJKK to a position of leadership in the market where it now ranks among the most listened stations in DALLAS. KURT's first-hand experience will be invaluable to INFINITY as we continue to evolve our eight JACK stations."

This further entrenches my belief that the bigger failure you are, the further you'll go - if you're good at kissing the right asses.

It's always worked in the past.

Yep.

Sadly it's one of the basics of radio: the power of the pucker. I've worked for a few Kurts in the past. And when they finally got the boot, they always landed on their feet and not their butts like they should have.

Just proves the old adage - the worst of the turds always float to the top.

Yes, Kurt knows JACK got him the promotion. Anybody that has a promising new format literally handed to them will benefit from it. Despite outward appearances JACK doesn't really run itself, even if it's automated 99.9% of the time. It still needs someone who knows how to keep it fresh. Kurt ain't the man.

Kurt has plenty of experience "jacking"around talent and people in general. The Promotion is well deserved for this "jack"of all trades. He is a"one eye jack" as so far as having any true vision in programming, thus he fits the mold of Infinity's wisdom that "less is more"in terms of ability. What else would you expect from a "Johnson"?:) If reaching a low plateau is a sign of success in Infinity's world .I hate to see CC's definition of success. River deep, mountain high? Scott Strong needs to leave the Bone and go to work for infinity, he qualifies to be a COO.

howcum

all the negative vibes toward this guy? Can't be THAT bad.

Re: Kurt's new title...

Kurt Johnson,
Head "Jack Ass" of Infinity Broadcasting

Especially since he fell "Ass" backwards into the flavor of the month. What about those killer ratings when he was at KVIL?!

Go back and look at KVIL's ratings while he was in charge. The station sank like a rock.

Also, when Dan Larkin left KVIL last year after 4 or 5 years of doing Kurt's dirty work, Kurt never had the decency to say goodbye to him or wish him well, nor did he come to Dan's going away party. Yes, it can be that bad.
