So if Michael Jackson is found guilty, do you still play his music or not?

Many people still paid money to watch Mike Tyson fight after he served time in prison.

Well, that reminds me of Boy George and Culture Club. After he was arrested for heroin or something, his music was completely pulled.

Another example: Milli Vanilli. When it was shown that the guys in the music videos were not the same ones singing the songs, they were completely pulled.

The point is: Whether you've had one #1 record, or several, your radio airplay can quickly ground to a complete halt.

I can say with 100% assurance that I personally will not initiate play of Michael Jackson...

I will, however, turn up "Billie Jean" when it comes on... "Thriller" freakin rocks, man...
______________

JACK might still play his music.

They play what they want after all :)

Robert, I am curious. Who would make the decision at KEOM regarding MJ's music.

I assume the superintendent would reserve the final say if a controversy arose.

I don't think it's about MICHAEL's music. For me, it's about what music he controls. I don't want to put any more money into his hands if I can help it. (assuming they're not...a-hem..."busy")

I won't buy anything that uses Beatles songs that he owns in their advertising. I think people need to make it clear to advertisers that using Beatles songs in their campaigns only enriches Michael Jackson and funds all the weirdness. A product boycott could result if only a larger segment of the population knew this. It nauseates me that Paul McC doesn't own the rights to those songs.

I'd love to see someone get loud about this. What syndicated national talker might want to do that..in your opinions?

Sadly, I'm afraid all he is going to be convicted of is the lesser charge of providing alcohol to a minor. He'll get off (again!) on the other charges.

Are Cat Stevens' songs played on KLUV or Sunny?

The sad part is "celebrity Justice"IF he is found guilty expect a long, long, long appeal.Second if if all appeals are rejected, He will get a very light sentence, free to travel, a miniscule fine to pay,a miniscule amount to pay to the victim, and or a Martha Stewart paradise jail sentence. I think he will be acquitted like Robert Blake and OJ. I will be shocked otherwise. Finally I don't think he will ever have another single or album in the top ten again or even the top 50.

Well there are some who believe if he is indeed convicted, he won’t spend any time in jail. He’ll commit suicide. After all, it appears he’s already starving himself.

I have seen Cat Stevens appear on playlists for both stations, via www.yes.net.

Re: MICHAEL JACKSON and JACK

Of course the Superintendent can make such a decision. But I suspect the School Board relies on the chain of command for decisions like this, in which case they’d likely let Dr. Griffin handle it first.

Rick James spent time in prison for sexual abusing a female.
And I continually heard his music being played on radio stations
after his conviction.
He is no longer living. And I still hear super freak being played
today.
______________

Good point. I have my doubts about conviction, but who knows.

If he is sentenced to prison, Jackson will need air-tight protection from the guards. Even convicts have standards, and child molesters are the lowest form of life there.

One additional point: If convicted, the DA may ask that Jackson be held in jail since with his money he is obviously a flight risk.

Just not on Radio Disney!

Will Michael end up in the hall of fame??

I think stations will continue to play his music but the bigger question is will he ever be inducted in the Rock and Roll hall of fame?

In response to the question ask, I do care if I ever hear his music again. But I expect it will always be around in some form being played.

I WILL NOT BE SURPRISED IF ON THE DAY THEY READ THE VERDICT, JACKSON DOES NOT SHOW FOR COURT. MAYBE WE WILL KNOW THE ANSWER TO THAT NEXT WEEK.
