The Vibe is Back! Dance / EDM on 99.7

Highway Vibe flips to EDM / Dance.
It's Been about 15 years since the
original Vibe (KVBE) debuted on 94.5.

Should be similar but great.

Here's their recent Facebook post:

Keeping the 24/7 club VIBE alive in the #dancemusic capital of the world! Welcome to the brand new..... VIBE 99.7FM Las #Vegas! #LasVegas #dancemusiclovers #edmmusic #rave https://vibe997.com

Does this mean KRXV and KHWY are also airing the EDM simulcast? It only mentions the 99.7 frequency.

Listen for an updated Top of the Hour ID.

I only heard KHYZ & KHYZ HD-1
Mountain Pass / Las Vegas.
I wonder if/how their
HD signal is around the area.

I did hear a liner during commercial
saying "99.7 and 98.9" however I think it is
still on in Barstow CA as well on 98.1.

I wonder if they will grab the KVBE call sign, which is currently on an LPFM station in Portland, OR.

So...I guess they think that every traveler under the age of 40, driving on I-40 and I-15 to Vegas, who has an FM radio on and not Spotify, is listening to EDM? At least they still have the country and rock simulcasts on multiple channels.

As 99.7fm switches to the old acid 87format. 87.7fm rebrands as Club 87.7fm

Not until next Friday...

All three of the Highway stations ID separately (or at least did last month when I drove from LA to Vegas and back)

Vibe 997 says they now broadcast in HD. Does that HD radio signal also go through their booster (KHYZ-2) or is it just from the main signal in California? If so I wonder how the HD signal is around the LV valley?

Last time I was there it was not in HD and kind of weak in the NW Valley as well as right under Black Mountain in Henderson, not far from its transmitter (interference from other signals and line of sight blocked from Arden Peak a few miles away) but there was a decent signal near the LV strip.

The booster for sure is in HD. It's had multiple subchannels for a few years now. HD2 was a separate Dance format "LVNet Radio" Las Vegas Radio HD3 was Bloomberg Business programming. The signal is strong through most of the market in car and along the strip.

This is going to be interesting with a growing population, more Dance/EDM acts opening up shows/residencies (like Kylie Minogue), the Electric Daisy Carnival being held there, etc. Looking forward to seeing how Vibe 99.7 and Club 87.7 can compete with the Mainstream KLUC and Rhythmic KVEG, since they seem to share some of the same music regardless of direction.

Revenue-wise, does Dance have a better chance at recruiting advertising on these signals than does Hot AC? “The Highway Vibe" Hot AC format that had been there would seem to be much more on target with the age demo that ad money wants to target. Thoughts?

Is it just me or is this the most mysterious radio station in history? Where are highway radio’s studios? Do they have on air staff? Do/did they get good ratings? None of this, including the format change makes any sense.

For the programmer of the station, no. But for the licensee leasing it out, absolutely. They now have a guaranteed income level each month with limited operational costs.
