Where'd The Country Go?

OK, now I get it. Apparently WNKR is now simulcasting classic hits WNKN. Not sure exactly when this happened, but no more classic country. The stations are rimshots to Cincinnati.

The marketing at the Oasis is "Where The Music Went." When you go to WNKR's website, "ILoveClassicCountry.com," it forwards to the Oasis: "wherethemusicwent.com."

The two stations simulcast classic country for five years, before splitting off The Oasis last summer. Now they're reunited.

Ok so it looks like the plan is to have the Oasis on 106.7. Obvious problem you can see on the map Marty provided. What's worse is they are hard to get even online. When I ask my Google smart speaker to play 105.9 The Oasis or ask for WNKN
It says can not play.

They're definitely streaming, and the player is attached to WNKN. I also found this interesting:

106.7 The Oasis and “Where The Music Went” are registered trade names of Grant County Broadcasters, Inc.

So maybe you should ask for 106.7 The Oasis.

Well this is just great; 105.9 is becoming Relevant Radio, and soon 106.7 will be irrevelant radio...
What is even worse is I can't listen to 106.7 because their signal is crap and I can't listen on my smart speaker because they only stream from their web site and smart speakers use Tunein or iheart.

I agree. This move makes little sense. 106.7 covers only a small portion of the area 105.9 covers (only the areas near the Airport, Florence, etc). I doubt AC Gold / Oldies will attract more ad revenue in 106.7's footprint than Classic Country.

106.7's signal is useless in the valley and not very good in uptown Cincinnati, either.

I think there are many loyal listeners to WNKR in northern KY who will be upset as soon as they discover this format change.

I cannot help but wonder if WNKR will be sold later this year or next year. Will be interesting to see how much of the current air staff remains on board at WNKR.

95% plus folks stream on Sonus, Alexa or Google. If you are not in those ecosystems you don't exist
I can believe the figure, but do you have a source for that data? I'd like to be able to reference that source.

I’ve been thinking the same thing. If they could nudge that signal a little farther north so at least it covered Cincinnati and its suburbs, then maybe it makes more sense. But that‘s not likely.

I can understand them trying to keep the Oasis format alive because it was showing some success in the ratings not only in Cincinnati but in Dayton as well but 106.7 is not the answer. I agree with you guys to say they should have kept it classic country.Maybe take some of that 4.2m and buy a translator that has a better footprint in Cincinnati, if that's possible.
