Just looked. The license is held by an LLC. I would assume that, unless the station is just dumped, that the LLC will continue to hold the license.
I would tend to agree with that but I wanted other people’s opinionMoreno and the other partners in the LLC could keep KLAA, but the new owners of the Angels may choose to take the radio rights elsewhere—another stop else on the dial or to (gulp!) streaming.
i don't envision any potential new team owner wanting to take on a money-losing AM station, even if it serves as the team's official mouthpiece. But one thing is very clear: Losing the Angels would put KLAA in dead-station-walking territory.
What do you mean by that? This is an open forum, after all.I would tend to agree with that but I wanted other people’s opinion
Well hey, at least KLAA is one multimillion-dollar albatross that Arte Moreno purchased that is still working, right?KLAA as the radio mouthpiece, is a part of the success even if it is a tiny part. My guess is it would be part of the package. And even if it stayed with the owner, it would not make sense to change things because that is obviously working. When your team is worth $820 million more than you paid for it, that albatross $42 million AM radio station is a part of that formula that got the value to where it is.

830 is pretty much an OC signal, with daytime reaching just up to downtown LA, and nights even more limited. So how do the KLAA day and night signals compare to KRDC or the future downgraded KSPN? Would 830 be preferable over the new 710 coverage? Of that of 1110? Haven’t thoroughly compared those when in SoCal.
It's on 570. 5 kw on 570 is as good as 250 kw or a bit more on 1500.I would think that KLAC beats any of those three for market coverage, even with 5kw…?
KLAC is co-owned by the team and iHeart.I believe KLAA is the only radio station presently co-owned with the pro sports franchise with whom they have a rights agreement. That would suggest whoever buys the LA Angels would not wish to acquire KLAA.

As far as what happens after that, who knows? Probably not anything with mass market appeal, but stranger things have happened.
It works because its coverage almost perfectly matches the locations of its fan base. On AM, only KFI and KLAC are better matches for reaching Angels fans.Well hey, at least KLAA is one multimillion-dollar albatross that Arte Moreno purchased that is still working, right?

As you’ve pointed out many times!😆It's on 570. 5 kw on 570 is as good as 250 kw or a bit more on 1500.
Unfortunately, this has to be pointed out constantly, as there are vastly too many posts that seem to think that 5 kw on 1600 is about the same as 5 kw on 550.As you’ve pointed out many times!😆
That reminded me of another thread where discussion of low power AM stations in The Netherlands came up…these run between 1 and 100 watts. My thought was that “David Eduardo will point out that 1 watt on 550 is the same as 50 watts on 1500.”🤪
