Huge jump for KRBE. What’s going on?

KOVE also up quite a bit.

93Q pulling away from The Bull.

Mega 101’s slippage raises an eyebrow.

Nice bounce for La Raza.

610 still well ahead of its SportsTalk competitors. 97.5 continues to be horrible.

Looks like the Praise format on 92.1 has peaked. SportsTalk should be in KROI’s future under new ownership.

Considering that these are some of the worst doldrums in the history of the Top 40 format, KRBE's sharp rise is very curious. Very odd book in general, I'm definitely curious to see the 25-54, 18-34, and 18-49 breakouts in the AllAccess PPM Analysis articles tomorrow. I also wonder why this month's RadioInsight ratings page doesn't include cume and only has the shares from the past three months?

More people going back to work = more people in cars to listen to Roula & Ryan?

At the bottom of the book -- looks like a bit of a disappointing start for KHVU. Have seen a lot of billboards around town, but doesn't look they're translating to a whole lot. And two no-show books for 93.3?!? Something else has to be in the works.

KRBE's Adult / Gold lean may have helped? But it doesn't explain the less-than-stellar past books for KRBE.

They do have more tendency to play P!nk, Maroon 5, and many slower-tempo "pop rock" music compared to even a throwback-laden CHR like WIHT in Washington, DC. This isn't KRBE's first rodeo in a Gold-heavy direction, though, as lots of 90s pop rock was played during the late 00s / early 10s.

On the other hand, however many listeners who "went back to work" have returned to CHR / Hot AC, KHMX hasn't really benefited.

The only thing I can think of is two or three meters (possibly new partcipants?) spending a LOT of time listening to KRBE, much more than usual. As for the stations that would more traditionally be "at work" listening stations: KHMX and KKHH are around the same level they have been for months, and KODA is actually higher than it was in the last 3 non Chirstmas months, so it's tough to say KRBE is taking away from any of those stations, and none of the four are doing anything differently than they were say last summer (save for KKHH having more of a rock sound at times over the past few months, albeit not always, it depends on when you listen or check the recently played). Not to mention that there isn't any new music that's being talked about/getting public attention save for "We Don't Talk About Bruno", but even then, it doesn't exactly feel like a pop culture behemoth, and KRBE isn't even playing it anyway. Truly an odd spike that I'm not sure can be explained by anything but sample wobbles.

Not unusual. There are AC listeners who burn out on all-Christmas, particularly males. Since AC shares a lot with CHR, and KRBE is an adult-leaning CHR, this little bounce sounds logical... they came out of the season listening less to the AC station and more to the CHR. Since most people have multiple P1 choices that alternate in "most listening" by the week and month, this is likely the best explanation.

Also, due to meter shortage, there are less participants in HOU than the desired quota.

A 3.7 to a 5.9 is a full 2.2 share points, more than just a little bounce. Combine that with the format doldrums and the fact that KRBE wasn't exactly close to a 5.9 before the Christmas music, and you have a recipe for me and a few others to be perplexed. The meter shortage thing seems plausible, so I will definitely consider that to be a factor.

Side note, but this has to be the highest share KRBE has gotten in 6+ (or 12+) since the diary days. I don't recall them ever getting this high before during the PPM days, but they did get quite close to a 6, which they broke quite frequently in the late 1990s diary days.

What's the explanation for The Buzz's decline over the last four months?

4.9 in September, now down to a 3.8 just four months later.

Seems like you been wishing that for a long time.

Might have something to do with 105.3 getting noticed.
It does not even show in the ratings.

This looks more like a panel issue due to the normal big loss of panelists in the Holiday period combined with a shortage of meters for new panelists. Both contemporary (pop / reggaetón) stations were off in January.

KRBE's 5.9 is their largest share since a 6.1 in Sept. 2007 (the first year of PPM in Houston.)
KRBE's 25-54 share in January (they were #1 in the market) is their largest ever in the demo. (Arbitron started breaking out the 25-54 demo in 1977.)

A whole bunch of KLOL listeners got online "Learn English in 10 Days" for Christmas and by early January had moved to KRBE.

Si they should go back to being a hip hop/reggaetón station like in the early days?
That did not work. Too young for sales,
