Sites and streaming platforms after the big switch

None huh? noticed the old site still works for now.

Word is that iHeart won't take control of WRKO until it divests WXKS 1430.

WRKO will be run by the Entercom/CBS trust until that happens, so there's just a placeholder site at that domain for now.

The WBZ iHeart site is a sight that will make one's eyes sore.

Godspeed, WBZ. :(
Ehhh...it looks slightly better than what the popup-ridden CBS site looked like. (I was never a fan of their old templates. Again, popups every time, and just riddled with those AdChoice spots. ETM, OTOH, look slick.)

As one may expect probably similar to other iHeart news talkers, cookie cutter

BTW the previous site was a cookie cutter CBSLocal site. When CBS corporatized its digital division about ten years ago, all local websites were absorbed into the corporate platform. This is nothing new. Just going from one corporate platform to another.

BTW as of midnight the link from Boston.CBSLocal to WBZNewsradio still works:

http://boston.cbslocal.com/station/wbz-news-radio/

Things change, dude. It's just a stinkin' web site. Not that much of an era.

The website was not the era to which I was referring. It was the long-time connection between WBZ-AM and WBZ-TV, under the same owners, the same roof. WBZ-AM/TV existed way before their website did.

Not to nitpick, but it was Westinghouse who bought CBS, and then took its name, spinning off all of Westinghouse's former lines of business.

It gets very complicated, because a lot of it was orchestrated by Mel Karmazin, who then ran the combined business, and merged it with Viacom. Somewhere in the midst of that was when the era ended.

Has been said iHeart won't get WRKO till WKOX has been sold.iHeart has LMAs but the swaps aren't officially approved--don't know if we'll hear "an iHeart radio station" at top of the hour.Though we see things like "tomorrow (today) we'll be Entercom", posted on Facebook by someone working at the former CBSr cluster in Pittsburgh. So stations aren't technically owned by iHR, it's an LMA right..or they ARE owned by iHR but no FCC approval yet? Does CBSr still "own" WBZ, but the company no longer exists..or at least it's been folded into Entercom--most stockholders are from CBS but the Entercom name is what's being used.

Under "these things take time", naturally no changes on HD radio post midnight. 93.7 is still carrying WRKO on its HD2, 98.5 is still carrying WBZ AM on its HD3.We'll see the fates of The Lounge, Radio Mojo, The Cove, and Mercy Rock.

Ent. now has Magic, etc...again these things do take time.
As for the WBZ site it's so bare bones that nobody is listed under schedule..yet.The CBS cookie cutter (you're right) one has more accurate sched info. Technically under the LMA the new owners-to-be can make changes. So new owners but yet not approved by FCC.

Most of the Entercom stations made their way to the Radio.com app within an hour of the merger. Magic and the new Chattanooga and Richmond clusters have yet to arrive. As of a few minutes ago, those stations remain on iHeartRadio while 'BZ and the others remain on Radio.com.

iHeartRadio has yet to add any of its new stations to the streaming app, and WBZ-FM has yet to migrate as well.

Has been said iHeart won't get WRKO till WKOX has been sold.

Let's talk about WKOX. Who do you think would buy it? Not that anyone cares what a guy from outside the market thinks. A couple buyers I could think of.

1. Gois Broadcasting (They do own two differently formatted Spanish Stations in Hartford. La Mega 101.7/910 is more like Spanish CHR and Exitos 105.3/1230 is more like a Spanish Variety Hits Station and they have Spanish Religion overnights 10PM-6AM).

2. Multi-Cultural Broadcasting (I don't even know if they have the money).

3. *SUGGESTION OUT OF LEFT FIELD* Alex Langer.

4. *SUGGESTION OUT OF LEFT FIELD* WATD. - Speaking of WATD, did they every get 1460 back on the air?

5. *SUGGESTION OUT OF LEFT FIELD* Full-Power Radio of Ledyard, CT? They could run the KOOL Radio Oldies format on it that they run on stations in Hartford, Springfield, and Westerly. (Of Course eventually he would have to get a translator how he did in Hartford, Springfield, and Westerly).

6. *SUGGESTION OUT OF LEFT FIELD* Money Matters Radio. (1120's owner).

Tom Taylor:"Some “CBS Radio” branding will go away immediately, in places like top-of-the-hour IDs – and there are a lot of those to change. Does that mean Entercom wants “CBS Radio” to be replaced by “Entercom?” Not necessarily. But brand-building, and making up ground with iHeart, will be important on places like Wall Street and Madison Avenue. Also - This NOW Newsletter hears that Entercom has sped up its digital transition away from the combined TV/radio “CBS Local” platforms. They haven’t been popular with radio people, who say it’s hard to quickly get to a specific radio station. The original timetable was to share with CBS Local for a year or more, but that’s supposedly been pushed up to this coming April – it not sooner. Look for Entercom to do more with CBS Radio’s “Radio.com.” Same with individual station apps, through Radio.com."

Speaking of the legal IDs, I've heard "always on radio.com" more than "a CBS radio station", at least within the last few years. I imagine the former will stay and will be expanded to the original ETM properties.
