WTIC 1080 - On the road to its 100th

On its 99th anniversary today, WTIC started mentioning it will now be airing segments about the station's history, in celebration of its upcoming 100th anniversary. Travelers Insurance put WTIC on the air on February 10, 1925. The attachment is a screenshot from WTIC's Facebook page.

I remember when WCBS 880 used four tones at the top of the hour. Bong... Bong... Bong... BONG. The anchor would talk over the first three bongs most of the time. But a few times a day, a prerecorded announcement would say "Set your clock to WCBS. Four tones will follow. The fourth and loudest tone marks the exact time. Bong.... Bong... Bong... BONG." Then the anchor would say "Five o'clock." And the CBS network news would begin with its sounder.
