What will ever become of the KLRC signal at 101.1?

Anyone know if the signal at 101.1 (now a simulcast of 90.9) is for sale? Seems like a waste of a frequency now that KLRC is now broadcasting a larger footprint with 100,000 watts at 90.9. It would be nice if we could hear another format at 101.1, such as Hot AC, AAA, or Active Rock?

What format holes does NWA still have, and what would you like to see?

From what I understand, yes, it's for sale and has been since shortly after 90.9 signed on. JBU, however, seems to want quite-a-bit for it, and 101.1 is an extreme rimshot into the NWA market. Without buying its companion translators, which no commercial operator can own along with 101.1, it will not place a consistently listenable signal into Fayetteville, Springdale, Bentonville or Rogers. Remember the early-to-mid 90's before all of the station upgrades when Kix, Power and Magic were the only stations you could get consistently in the entire market? You're looking at that again, but with less power and even farther removed from the population centers. Good luck with that!

Hey guys - just wanted to set the record straight on the 101.1 signal owned by JBU for KLRC. The signal isn't actually for sale (never has been). After signing on 90.9FM, there were still some areas in the NWA market that weren't as strong as desired, due primarily to the terrain of NWA. Immediately after signing on 90.9FM, the University was able to upgrade the 101.1 signal from a Class A to a Class C3 signal. With that upgrade, there are still some areas that are better served by 101.1 than 90.9. So, it's essentially being used as a really powerful translator until the entire market can be covered well by 90.9.
