Weigel to get KVOS

They're also getting KFFV.

Wonder if this means one of the KFFV subchannels will flip to Heroes & Icons, for us that don't subscribe to Comcast or live within KVOS' primary signal contour? (Only have DirectTV & Over-the-air here at the homestead).

Just as a point of reference, KVOS is licensed to Bellingham, WA about 90 miles north of Seattle.

Although in all their ID's they call it KVOS/Seattle. Not sure how they get away with that.
They still have an office to hover over the license & public file in a strip mall in BHam. Studio space sold about 3-4 years ago and turned into a psychiatrist office (figures).

Whoops...once again I'm full of crap.
They have gone back to ID'ing as KVOS/Bellingham (and MeTV also carried on one of the sub's of KFFV ... so it's a dual ID). When it was KVOS-only, they ID'd as a Seattle station at top of every hour.
Operations for both stations are in SODO in Seattle.

Also a couple years ago, TV stations were required to move their Public Files to the stations website. Combine that, along local studio rules also being abolished, in the near future you'll see more and more stations, TV and radio, centralizing their studios and offices to locations that make more sense from a business perspective.

Another thing to consider regarding your observation; depending on where you saw the Seattle ID being used, a lot of times stations will direct-feed their local cable systems with a different feed than Over The Air. Since the FCC doesn't require station ID on cable, the station isn't going to get dinged for either not running an ID on their cable feed. In fact, some stations will even run different spots on different cable systems in different counties.

We used to do this in smaller markets where a station in Eugene, OR., would be on cable systems in Coos Bay, Roseburg, Corvallis, and Newport (along the coast). We were able to target sales and run local ads in those markets via local cable systems in all those markets. In other words, local breaks could be targeted to that community cable system.
