WCCR tech.

This week, WCCR AM1260 is doing their periodical pledge drive. They mentioned that, last summer, they did preliminary work at their tower site, and hope to complete the work this summer. They mentioned the challenges with the up-keep of a 5-tower array.

Late last week and early this week they were having issues with the EWTN network audio. It was sounding like a digital stream on the border of buffering. Very slight stuttering. I e-mailed the station and apparently they noticed it too because it's been settled down and the network shows sound OK again.

I wonder if they're getting the programming via streaming codecs instead of a satellite receiver.

Yes, a directional array is quite a chore. We have a 4-in-line directional we take care of, thankfully it's fairly simple: One pattern day and night at 5 kilowatts. It puts out a huge signal over the city and towards the more northeastern suburbs.
