Sunny 102.7

Following up after sampling on and off - this station fills a very nice niche. It’s mostly 70s/80s AC gold and pop material like The Breeze stations iHeart has launched but even a few 60s tracks and 2000s/2010s tracks mixed in. Definitely some oh wow’s but not extremely out there. It’s a wide variety that fits together very well. A lot of these songs haven’t been played in decades probably in this market and much better than WBBQ.

It compliments Sister station 93.9’s more 80s and upbeat focused classic hits playlist nicely without overlapping a ton.

Sadly, I forget this station’s signal is so awful on the Augusta side of the market since it’s on the other side of Aiken. I havent listened since the switch to southern gospel 15 years ago, but the Augusta coverage is about what you would expect from a class A on the other side of Aiken. It degrades outside of NE Richmond County but is still listenable in Evans. Even within close range the sound quality is really off compared to the other Beasley stations (not dynamic at all). However this format on this signal makes since considering the high amount of retirees in the Aiken part of the market where this format’s primary audience probably is the heaviest.
