The equivalent of SiriusXM counting activated, but not listened to, radios in unsold cars sitting on dealer lots as "subscribers."

It's an interesting challenge. If I just hit the button to turn off my TV, but leave the Roku on, then yeah...makes sense content will continue until the device times out. There's no such thing as a perfect system.

yeah, that's the main reason why i mostly unplug my roku when i go to sleep, to keep it offline while i'm asleep.
