Shovio First To Launch Live Two-Way Online Video Broadcasting Network
New online technology melds podcasting, radio and television formats to juice up modern broadcasting
NEW YORK, Nov. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Shovio announces the launch of the first live, two-way video broadcasting network today. First to market, Shovio's web innovation enables broadcasters to create shows which incorporate real-time video and audio interaction between host, interviewee and viewer. Shovio instantaneously integrates videos, images and graphics content, in picture-in-picture format, into live broadcasts. The platform is supported with social networking features that maximize the site's interactivity. Shovio is available for commercial and private use and can be viewed immediately for free at http://shovio.com.

In an August 2009 study by comScore, websites which provide news and humor were among the fastest-growing sites, accounting for 42% of time spent online by the average user. Second to content, the study notes users were most interested in interacting with content. Shovio goes beyond basic interaction to give users the ability to communicate directly with show hosts and viewers through voice, video and text tools.

"Viewers demand more interactivity and recognition and Shovio delivers with two-way live audio and video. Host and viewer can debate live and millions of people see it as it happens. The viewer is part of the show. It is the look of TV, the spontaneity of talk radio and the omnipresence of the internet rolled into one revolutionary presentation," notes Shovio founder Leslie Gold, better known as the RadioChick.

Leslie Gold, one of New York's favorite radio personalities, founded Shovio with James J. Astro, Astrophysicist, inventor and digital media entrepreneur; and Bertika Astro, a serial entrepreneur. Leslie, J.J., and Bertika conceptualized Shovio in early 2009, leveraged Leslie's expertise in media, J.J.'s proficiency in technology and Bertika's background in operations, and developed a solution that makes broadcasting relevant and accessible to today's audience. Leslie will be one of Shovio's first hosts bringing the RadioChick to the first two-way online video broadcasting network.

"The most exciting thing about my invention, Shovio, is that it is the first platform that changes the way the public interacts with media, fully capturing the interactivity found on talk radio and television, while making it real-time, socially relevant, and engaging. Shovio minimizes the equipment needed to be your own broadcaster and to interact with professional hosts down to a webcam, computer and wifi connection," says founder J.J. Astro. "We've worked hard to make Shovio simple and we're looking forward to seeing it in action."

In addition to RadioChick Leslie Gold, Jeff Katz, Goumba Johnny of WKTU and sports commentator Sid Rosenberg, formerly of The Imus in the Morning Show and the current lead personality of OpenSports.com, have embraced the Shovio network and are broadcasting daily shows every Monday through Friday.

In addition to its current line-up of famed broadcasters, Shovio plans to democratize broadcasting over the next several weeks, allowing any user to broadcast their own show.
