Service from Warner Brothers

Since 1991 small market country music stations have been getting music service from a company called Compact Disc Xpress, better known as CDX. CDX sends compilation CDs twice a month. We often get music weeks after the major market stations get the same songs. But it gets worse. Now it appears that CDX and Warner Brothers have parted company and we no longer have anything from that label. Numerous calls to Warner in Nashville have failed to get past voice mail. Letters also are ignored. There must be hundreds of other stations that would like to play Faith Hill or Big & Rich. Short of purchasing the music retail, does anyone have suggestions?

TM Century HiTDiSC out of Dallas #972-406-6800 Also PromoOnly and the regular out singles that you get from the labels. If you need some, I have about 200 cluttering in, on, and under my desk right now :)

Alas, this has always been a problem for small market radio...getting even remotely decent record service. Unfortunately the small mom & pop music stores where you could trade out for stuff you couldn't get from the labels are gone for the most part too.

As someone else mentioned, there are always TM-Century Hitdiscs or Broadcast Programming's service.

Newmusicserver.com

You can get high quality mp3s from newmusicserver.com. You'll have to register and they check to make sure you're a legitimate radio PD or MD. And once you get access, you can only access the files through one computer, but they'll usually have everything you need including Warner Brothers and SONY product. By the way, I've noticed that on the last couple of CDXs, all of the SONY product sounded like it was coming off of low quality mp3 files and definitely aren't broadcast quality.

My thanks to you for this referral. They do have a good service and the price is right. I just got the new Toby Keith from them. I also just got the new CDX (No. 385) which contains precious little. For years I've been frustrated by major record companies who won't give me service even if I'm willing to pay them double their cost. Sort of reverse payola but it doesn't work. Maybe people in smaller communities just don't buy music so airplay is unimportant.

Another thing about Newmusicserver.com: If the song you want isn't listed, email their admin guy Benji and it'll be there in a day or two.

Two other choices (Both FREE) are:

Music Crypt - http://www.musicrypt.com/

*RadioSubmit.com - http://www.radiosubmit.com/index.php

*Clear Channel just announced this service would serve as their Digital Download source, so it's gonna be around... and it's FREE for radio PDs & MDs too.

Being in a small market myself,(Stillwater, OK) I'm glad these services are available... One good thing to come out of digital distribution is the fact that we now get new singles at the SAME TIME as Large Markets!

Just spoke to the guy who runs CCADS (Clear Channel Audio Distribution) for Clear Channel and he knows nothing about this. When did "Clear Channel" announce this?

Maybe One station signed up but hardly the entire company.
