Rutgers' WRSU-FM Relaunches Alternative Format

I'm proud to say that WRSU-FM, Rutgers Original Alternative (88.7 FM/WRSU.ORG) relaunched the alternative format as of today that brought such acts as U2, The Smithereens, Billy Idol, REM, and Bruce Springsteen through the door in the 70s and 80s during Matt Pinfield's reign as music director. We will continue to have all the DJs you have known to love over the years with a more cohesive alternative flavor during the day, starting with The Morning Stretch show 8-10 AM all week long.

The station will soon be launching overnight programming that recalls the station's groundbreaking alternative years of the 70s and 80s with a impossibly large collection of music from the WRSU-FM record library and our own DJ's collections.

We will be issuing a press release and some other information about the format in the coming days. We will be maintaining the best of our specialty programming, such as jazz, punk rock, blues, and classical for the evenings after 6 PM Monday-Saturday. We also continue to do cultural programming, similar to WSOU - Seton Hall, on Sundays.

Any questions or comments about the new format can be directed to me at [email protected].
