Pussycat Dolls - Beep

I just heard this today on WZNR Norfolk (They got a pretty good quality webcast) and noticed the lyrics resemble Black Eyed Peas - My Humps a lot. It was originally supposed to be their 2nd single after Don't Cha but they changed that to Stickwitu. My Humps was huge at the time so maybe thats why.
I didn't like it at my first listen. Now I think its just plain OK just because I happened to hear it on WZNR and it got stuck. Same thing happened around this time with Natalie - Goin Crazy. Heard it on WZNR and it got stuck.

I give it a 5 out of 10. Stickwitu and Don't Cha were better.
______________

I know what you're talking about. Certain CHRs have that magic that will all of a sudden make you like or appreciate records you previously didn't care too much for. Good CHR radio station have that effect on the average listener everyday :)

I also completely agree with you that WZNR Norfolk, 106.1 The Zone, is an awesome CHR with a great high quality stream. I wish they'd find a way to increase their signal, or simulcast on another frequency so that the entire Hampton Roads area (that's what locals sometimes call Norfolk-Virginia Beach) will be able to tune into them.

I was listening to Hartford's kiss 95.7 a lot today. The variety on that station is HUGE - they really do play all the hits, and know when to hit you at just the right moment with a Recurrent or Gold. They play everything from Staind's "Right Here" and Bo Bice to Mary J. Blige and Matisyahu!! Sean Paul's new one, Rhianna's "If It's Lovin That You Want" gets played a lot, James Blunt, and Ne-Yo. I even heard the Outhere Bros. "Boom Boom Boom" earlier today, and the remix to Crossfade's "Cold". They're like Z-100 New York, only custom mixed for Connecticut.

PS it took me awhile too to warm up to Natalie's "Goin Crazy", but it grew on me big time. They still play it a lot on stations like 104.3 ZYP in Huntsville.

its an alright song, and i still havent gotten to like natalie - goin crazy, I was listening to the station you said that started to stream below and they also have a lot of gold tracks, some tupac, b.b.d, but they don't really sound that good, no live jocks and has liners just saying kiss fm then jingles

BTW 9 out of 10 says Hampton Roads area since all the TV/radio stations use that name now.....but to the point

A bigger signal is possible!!!!

When Sinclair's 1061 came on the air they had to sign a contract (that Saga's Rock FM 99 made on them) that rock could not be on 1061 til 2006. So 1061 signed on as 1061 BOB-FM, one of the first in the Country. It was huge so they moved it to sister station 93.7 (100,000 watts) and moved Country 937 KICK-FM to 1061, it became Kicks 106.

Then Kicks 106 got KICKED to the Curb for 1061 THE ZONE, and RUMOR has it that when the contract is over THE ZONE will move to sister station 96.1 (96X and very lowly rated station). THe signal on 961 is a full market singal, and the station will become 961 the ZONE, and 96X will become 106X. THE X is even RURMORED to go TALK since they talk ALOT on that STATION and the ratings are low.

It will be better if they moved it to 937 the HUGE STICK, but that is not going to happen especially since BOB-FM has so many AC stations to compete with (101.3 2WD, 92.9 the WAVE, LITE 1077 and even more with southside rimshots from BEach 104, and MIX 967, and on the Penisula rimshot from Xtra 99.1)

Interesting, thanks for the update.
I've been listening to The Zone a lot today. Their afternoon jock is great. I also love that this station is very active on new music, it really does try to play all the hits, but also throws some great older hits in like "Gin & Juice" by Snoop Dog, or Mariah Carey's "Fantasy" (playing right now).

The repeat has gone WAY down. Tords the beginning they were playing their top songs over 130 times a week.

Now its down to 100.

and they FINALLY play golds. They used to have none. I've been listening to them online since the first day.

Sinclair owns them. The company that owned WXSS Milwaukee when the CHR format was launched in 98.
______________

I believe it's a different Sinclair. The Sinclair that owned WXSS/Milwaukee is sold all of its stations to focus on its TV operations, while the Hampton Roads/Austin (49.9%)/Santa Maria Sinclair is family-owned. I remember when the TV group had its political bias backlash in '04, the radio group issued several press releases differentiating themselves from SBG.

From the HR Sinclair site (http://www.sinclairstations.com/): "A rarity in the world of modern radio, Sinclair Communications is one of just a few family owned and operated companies in thisage of mega corporation"
