Philadelphia Radio Ratings: December 2023

TDY still (within the margin of error) beating Q, but they’re down quite a bit, along with WOGL. Don’t think it’s a cause for concern, I’d attribute a lot of that to sister station B101 probably taking some from WOGL and TDY.

yelp. After the holiday seasons other stations will rise back to their normal numbers again

It’s also interesting to see the increase in WDAS-FM. Makes me wonder where those additional listeners came from. Another radio station or increased radio audience last month?

While WBEB had an expected increase in cume of nearly 35% over the previous survey, the overal market cume was "essentially flat".
Thus, WDAS may have drawn from other outlets -and/or- the audience that they already have listened for longer periods.

Remember, in the PPM in a single week period the average listener uses ("cumes"") about 5 stations, and in a longer period the number is even greater. And, more important, a person's P1 this week is not always the same next week. Many radio users increase and decrease their usage of their two or three favorite stations for a variety of reasons.

Such as what reasons?
For example maybe a listener doesn't like football so doesn't listen to WIP as much during the football season?

Mood, looking for info on some news item or event, variety after hearing one station's playlist for a long time, favorite morning show on vacation,

No, they switch to another of their array of favorite stations for a while if there is too much talk about a particular sport or team.

People don't totally switch stations... they share time listening to different ones, often in same day or week.

talking to friends and relatives, their choice is 99.9 or 105.7 and on a other go to out of the city 98.5 and 104.1 no mention of 106.1, they just don't connect with it for SOME reason, maybe the owners, their numbers are accurate.
