Gill Broadcasting's application for a Multilingual station (primarily South Asian) in Winnipeg has been rejected by the CRTC. The new station would have operated on 92.9 with 1,800 watts (average & maximum ERP).
The CRTC stated that given the limited revenue growth of Winnipeg's existing ethnic radio station CKJS 810 and the modest Hindi/Punjabi and Tagalog populations in Winnipeg, the Commission finds that the Winnipeg radio market would be highly challenged to sustain an additional ethnic station at this time.
