Christmas helped KOST, but had no effect at KKGO.
The few country stations that have "gone Christmas" achieve no audience growth, but they prevent their core cume from defecting in December. So it is a protective move, particularly in a market that is not very country in mood or lifestyle.

Looking at the Top 5 country stations, there was no big drop during the first week of December. In fact the country stations in Houston went up a bit. Chicago was flat.

As I said, in markets that are only light lifestyle ones, this seems to be a good defensive move against loss to mainstream AC Christmas stations.

Wow, KYSR is not faltering. Their morning drive must be that remarkable to overcome demographic challenges.

Or LA is 15-20 years behind the rest of the country [and the world], given that most people moved on from alternative rock. :D I kid, I kid. Well, sort of...

In all, iHeartMedia is dominant among 18-34. All but walled off from Audacy and the usual suspects.
