Most notably Juana Summers is mentioned to be Audie Cornish successor in the article in reference to Cornish moving to CNN earlier this year.
Juana Summers is named a host of NPR’s flagship afternoon news program “All Things Considered” and the daily podcast “Consider This.” Summers joins Ailsa Chang, Mary Louise Kelly, and Ari Shapiro rotating through host duties across both shows. Her first day on the air will be June 27.
“Juana emerged as the top candidate after a rigorous national search that included both internal and external candidates – propelled by her authoritative reporting expertise, her versatile journalistic talent, and her drive to explore and interrogate the most challenging questions of the moment,” NPR VP for News Programming Sarah Gilbert said in a release.
Summers fills the role vacated by Audie Cornish in January. Cornish has since joined CNN where she hosts a podcast for CNN Audio and appears on the network covering national, political, and breaking news.
