John Schneider's "It's Now Or Never"

I know you may not have the answer to this, but I'm hoping you might be able to point me in the right direction:

John Schneider's "It's Now Or Never" was released as a 7" 45 RPM record, as a track on the LP "Now Or Never," and later on the K-Tel compilation CD "Behind Closed Doors: Classic Country for Consenting Couples."

The CD version, the 7" commercial single release, and the album version all apparently have the steel guitar in it.

I have an mp3 of a vinyl version sent to me years ago by a friend... and it has NO steel guitar.

It sounds to me like it is a radio remix of some kind, maybe a DJ promo version sent to top 40 radio when the song began to cross over.

The version I have can be heard in this video:

or in this mp3:
http://beemp3.com/download.php?file=2268285&song=It%27s+Now+Or+Never

Do you know where it could be from, or do you know who might know?

Thanks in advance for ANY help you can offer!!

The only version I recall was the single officially released by Scotti Bros. records (the one you provided) which was fairly orchestrated without any country flavor to it. It is also the version in my TM Century Golddisc library. If you have a steel guitar version, I'd like to hear it.

maybe there were two versions. One for country radio and the other for pop. they still do that some times. Faith Hill's "The way You Love me" has the background vocals electronically altered in the pop radio version.

Sorry to resurrect this ancient thread, but someone said they wanted to hear the "country" version. It's not great quality, and it's in mono, but if you listen to the sample on this page you can hear the steel guitars: http://www.soundsbox.com/album.php?al=54387&album=now-or-never

I'm suspecting that this was the "album mix" (since this site lists it as from the album) and that the version you're used to is the "single mix" which was sent to both record stores and radio stations.

...Like the game, Clue: "can anyone prove otherwise?" ;D

The REAL question is, WHERE can I get the single mix on CD???
