Interrupting the Schedule

I was curious as to what other college stations do when they need to interrupt their normal programming schedule (including paid spots) with a remote broadcast?

We are running into this dilemma and considering either don't count the day/time the paid spot was supposed to play towards the contract or attempt to juggle both the remote broadcast spots and regularly scheduled spots at the same time.

Thanks

Why not just play the regularly-scheduled spots during the sportscast?

Granted, that's oversimplifying things somewhat...people pay to get a spot on a certain time during a certain show to reach a certain audience, and your sportscast is probably a different audience. But it's not a bad solution overall; the simplicity of it helps make a compelling case.

Is the remote broadcast a fully sponsored show? If not play the spot. The underwriter will appreciate it, plus they may give you more business.

What does the sponsor say to do?

We are building the program from scratch and are going through the possible issues as we design the program.

They will be the sole underwriter for the entire duration of the remote.

Although you bring up a good point about being more appreciated by the underwriter.
